AREA:ONE LOS ANGELES - NEW DAWN FADES FOR NEW ORDER!

No it's not over. Bernard Sumner stated the band will probably come to the US back in Q1 2002. As for the Area:One Festival, it's now over and the band is heading for Cologne, Germany for their next show.

The band played the following set:

Atmosphere, Regret, Crystal, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Your Silent Face, Turn My Way, Bizzare Love Triangle, Touched By The Hand Of God, True Faith, Temptation,
60 MPH, Blue Monday

And the highlight of the festival, New Order joined Moby on stage and did New Dawn Fades together.

Check the news for some reviews, also our forum, and the review of our Area:One Tickets Contest winner, Thomas Kennedy.

Here's the review of our Area:One Contest Winner: Thomas Kennedy:

"It was fucking great!! I got out there about 3:00 pm
(right when Area: One started). It had to be over 100
degrees - VERY hot! Getting in was a bit of a circus
(with having to go to the right gate to take a shuttle
to the right will-call office), but I was on the SFX
list and got in no-problem.

I tripped around the dance tent and side-stage (that
had dance music as well), and enjoyed the sights -
there were ALOT of hot chicks there!! :))

Anyway, after a few $8.00 beers, at about 6:15pm I
made it down to the front of the orchestra section of
the main stage and watched the end of the set of a rap
group (can't remember the name). After their set
ended (with the outflux of a number of people) I got
to within 15 ft. of where Peter Hook would be
(initially at least!).

After the standard chaos of techs running around
checking equipment, the stage went empty and the fog
machines started going off, which drew cheers from the
fairly sizeable crowd (at least down in front, the
festival overall was only about 2/3 capacity). Then,
a couple of minutes later, Mr. Hook (with Beck's in
hand, I might add) and co. took the stage to a barrage
of screams, cheers, and yells - it was awesome!!

After greeting the crowd, Barney introduced the first
song 'Atmosphere' (which sounded great!) and their set
was on. A few songs later they did 'Love will tear us
apart' which Barney introduced as "a song we've never
played before.........but then again I might be
lying!". The second song was 'Regret', and they went
on to do a similar set that they've been playing over
the last week with (not exact order): Crystal,
Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, Temptation (the
best song of the set, in my opinion), 60 mph, Touched
by the hand of God, the song w/Billy Corgan (can't
remember the name), and Blue Monday.

The band played with good energy and humor, and seemed
to be genuinely enjoying themselves. Peter Hook was
flat-out awesome and was all over the stage and
side-ramps while rocking the bass. Barney was being
Barney too, as his banter and dance-moves were very
entertaining - in between one song he turned to Billy
and said "what's going on in front of you with these
girls, Billy??" (who was drawing screams from the
females gathered by his side of the stage), and Billy
replied "I told them they had to sleep with me to get
to you!"

All in all, it was a great show and NEW ORDER
definitely showed they still can write and rock a good
song!! Their new material sounds good in their set,
and I can't wait for the new album and the next time
they tour!! "
