NEW ORDER GUEST EDIT CITY LIFE
Legendary Manchester band New Order have taken the reins of City Life magazine and become Editors for the week.
In this week's issue (out 30th March), Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner and co bring readers the literary treats of a review of Manchester restaurant, Establishment, and their take on the new book on the history of post punk by Simon Reynolds. Plus the tables are turned as they get to play music critics, reviewing the album of the week.
There is also a full interview with the band about their hotly anticipated album Waiting For The Sirens' Call.
Perhaps more famous for their arguments, it seems Hooky and Sumner have buried the hatchet, although they didn't actually do the interview together! New Order have been going strong for years and years and in our exclusive interview, Sumner reveals that he sees it as a complement that so many new bands try to emulate the New Order sound:
"...if a band now cites us as an influence, I'm glad - it's a very flattering thing. But I don't think those bands are carbon copies. The Killers, for example - their last single was really good".
