New Order have been honoured for their key role in shaping the British dance music scene.
The band has landed the outstanding achievement prize at the Muzik magazine awards.
Other winners include Fatboy Slim, with best video for Weapon Of Choice and Basement Jaxx, who have been named best group.
New Order attended the awards in Shoreditch, east London, after completing the second of three sell-out dates at Brixton Academy.
Frontman Bernard Sumner, said: "I think we've only ever won three awards in our career so far and this is the third."
DJ Norman Cook, alias Fatboy Slim, has been reported to be winding down his DJ-ing activities, but a spokesman rubbished the claim saying that, as with all acts, appearances come in cycles when performers have something to promote.
Chart-topping track Touch Me by Rui Da Silva was named best single, while chill-out act Zero 7 - nominated for the Mercury Music Prize - were named best new artists.
Muzik's editor Conor McNicholas said: "The Muzik Magazine Dance Awards are the biggest night in the dance music calendar and tonight has been no exception."
The Muzik magazine dance awards winners included best new artist - Zero 7; best website - BBC Radio 1 dance; best album - Felix Da Housecat Kittenz And Thee Glitz; and best Ibiza tune - Kings Of Tomorrow, Finally.
Creamfields received the award for the top event, while The Avalanches were named best live act. The awards for best club and DJ were respectively Colours in Glasgow, and Sasha.
