The induction marks belated recognition for two hugely influential acts that defined the electronic-pop sound of the 1980s and beyond. New Order emerged from Joy Division in 1980 following Curtis's death and dominated the UK charts with two number-one albums (Technique and Republic) and the iconic 1990 World Cup single 'World in Motion'. The group split in 2007 and reunited in 2011, but Hook remained absent, continuing instead with Peter Hook & The Light.
