I took a rare Saturday off only to spend 3 hours at the hospital. My youngest son, Timmy, was playing in the woods when his shoe fell off. being the good 6 year old he is he attempted to retrieve said shoe only to fall down and slice his wrist open on some uncertain object.

My first recognition of this was when my wife went running through the house screaming "BAD!! BAD!! BAD!!" At which point I turned my head away from the monitor and looked out the window to see several children standing in my yard. My wife then ran out of the house with a towel.

My first reaction was to get dressed. Boxer shorts were inappropiate I felt as a fear of my help was required. I grabbed the keys to the estate while I pulled a pair of shorts, shirt and sandals on.

I drove like a bastard to the hospital, not knowing how bad it was just that his shirt was pretty red. His bleeding had stopped by then so the medical staff slowed down. We had to wait for the plastic surgeon to sew Timmy up. In the meantime, some Kraut MD came up to him with a thick Deutsche accent and asked "Are you scared?" She meant no harm. Timmy has never met his German relatives but has watched enough war movies with me to get creeped out by that loaded question.

Not that simple. The surgeon said come back Monday so we can operate on him to reconnect a severed tendion. Yeah. Monday morning Timmy underwent a 20 minute procedure to repair his wrist. Brave little boy, never cried once or bitched. Three weeks with a cast, unfortunately his writing hand. Liquid Tylenol 3. I'd almost rather him eat a hash brownie than take that shit but CONTROLLED Substances are carefully watched by the Welfare State and DHS. Codeine makes me very ill, I usually refuse it when a doctor offers it to me.

Back to subject. Scary shit. BAD BAD BAD. Just missed an artery.
