So, I was duped into downloading this software called MNP Antipop-up software and while I'm getting no popups, my computer keeps making a sound like a machine gun at random points. I must admit that I know little about my computer and I did re-install Kazaa after I got my computer back, but could this be messing up my computer? I was told at Best Buy that some of these ad-aware programs actually destroy the drivers of your computer, but I don't even know if this is an ad-aware program. So, has anyone actually used this program or should I delete it immediately?
Antipop-up software?

I'm always suspicious about any kind of "anti-pop up", especially if it appears in the form of a pop-up
At any rate, I would say get that checked out as soon as you can, preferably by a licensed professional. I don't know all that much about what you've got, but it sounds iffy ![]()
Download the Google toolbar.. very very useful...
That's my popup killer, and I can't lvie without the search engine in my browser ;)
Pop ups are not an issue for me. The CNN pop up is not a distraction. I usually avoid sites that have mege pop ups. The pop ups I hate are the gator type usually found on crappy websites. The popups I really hate are the porn ones that take forever to clear out.
But I am not going out of my way to instal something about it. Just surf safely and use Spybots and Ad-Aware6 to clean your machine.
