Well, it's almost a week from now when the world will be celebrating the supposedly romantic holiday of Valentine's Day....I say "supposedly" because it can't be romantic if you're by yourself (no, Rocket Mick, your right hand doesn't count ;) )

Anyway, who else is flying solo this year? Any hopes of last-minute luck with the opposite sex?

It's just a ploy to get the gullible to spend and then spend some more in the pursuit of a shag...

I'm flying solo and proud... well not quite... not at all :( but what can I do about it?

As a non-practicing heterosexual, I will definitely be "flying solo" this year.

V-Day is also my youngest son's 7th birthday. Perhaps take him out for lunch and then lock them up so Mrs. Twist and I can do something.

Flying solo, as always. Girls avoid me, but that is old news. I've never taken the holiday seriously, anyway, and from the fact that I continue to remain invisible to the female sex, I don't think I'm ever going to take it seriously.

hmmmm...I've still got a week...hehehehe....

not sure if I'm solo or not!!!!

Solo this year, just like the previous 20 V-Days :nonono: :(

Erm, the on-again, off-again relationship is swinging back to the former, though their have been no hints at presents being bought for her, like their were for Christmas.

don't be so down on yourself, man. your time will come!

as for me, as my relationships move in cycles that avoid the month february, i will either be out with friends getting drunk or sitting at home with my roommate, watching DVDs and getting drunk.

What did this Valentine fella do to become the patron saint of greetings cards and poor rhyming couplets ?

he was the Morrissey of his era!!!

I'm flying solo too. I'll be out clubbing with my mates, though. Love? Who needs it?

I am taking the wife to Brussels for the weekend, 5 star hotel and all the trimmings. May even do an impromptu solo show in the Grand Place, so will be taking the 335.

The day the rest of humanity has reserved to remind me that I am flying solo.

Since the closest thing to a relationship right now is living in Moscow unless this weekend I get extremely lucky, love is not on the cards. Then again Shelley's right: who needs it. An extremely complicated and often painful way of perpetuating the species if you ask me.

Only who loved once and lost it knows why do you need it.

i'll be drinking with the lil' lady... then maybe, if we don't over-do the drink, i may get lucky. but then again, we always seem to over-do the drink, so i think a game of "monopoly" is all that is in the cards for me.

But what's the point of love if you're just going to lose it eventually? Better not to bother with it and save yourself all the hurt. That's what I reckon, anyway.

Shelley...you can't be serious?!?!?!

it's the most powerful drug ever concocted by man...or woman...or whatever...

maybe she's right...I should just buy a dog!!!

My dog always loved me no matter what...through life's ups, and its downs. Whenever a relationship ended, my dog still loved me. Then she died.

Jesus...so what you are telling me is that the dog would even leave me...crap...

I give up...tonight I think I'll walk alone...

No...gonna wait until I graduate and have some stability in my life before I take on that responsibility.

My girl will plan something sappy that will make my head spin and I will, as per usual, forget all about it...to which she will chock up on the list of things to never let me live down.

Oh well...at least I was free on Male-entine's Day (Super-Bowl Sunday)!!!

Saturday is just going to be like any other for me; son goes to basketball, daughter goes swimming, I hang about watching the football scores, and Deek will be, will be ... whatever. Never really bothered with this soppy crap anyway. We've been together 19 years, and I get the odd bunch of flowers for no reason at all. That's much nicer me thinks :)

I'm perfectly serious, Monkey (call me cynical if you want). And yes, buying a dog, or some other pet, would be a better idea.

I agree with Geri there... why only make one day of the year "romantic?" My hubby and I have been together in various stages of togetherness (ie. dating, engaged, married...) for 13 years, and truthfully, the impromptu things DO make things much better!! So those "without" someone, don't lament just on February 14! I guess... feel alone... everyday? (That did NOT come out right!)

Aahh... that's only for schoolboys and schoolgirls anyway... I mean it's pretty childish. And the only ones who want is are lassies. So why bother then? To be up to their expectations? No way. Oh okay, say, let's do it. Off I'm confused. I'm not a schoolboy anymore. I'm exhausted and betrayed young man in his mid-20s. I guess it's time for beer.

Anyway, looking forward to it (the CD, not the love) :thumb:

Strange. But hey, if that helps to make you feel loved and special on a day that Hallmark pulled out of it's arse, then go fer it!!:love2:

I don't understand what you mean; please explain! I mean I like your unhuman appeal to human relations (hurt!), so could it be called robotic then? Well, don't take offense. I meant in a good way. Think Kraftwerk ;)

Friday the 13th night, and I'm in training for tomorrow night-- all alone, posting on NOOL.

Are you a quirkyalone?

A score of somewhere between 88 and 94 for me, depending upon how I answer. Hmm, I wonder if that explains things...

More here

By the way, I found the site while cruising through Morrissey's site... ;)

Bit boring for Valentine's, just went cruising this afternoon and (contrary to my hopes) found no single and desperate women anywhere I went :(

I just haven't really met anyone who I would really like to be with lately. The last girl I really lusted for was way back last summer, and since then there hasn't been much of anyone else around to be interested in. :( :(

Then again, there's always my Russian mail-order bride, I guess I could try and please her this evening :p

that's okay...I spent quite a bit of my day waiting for the electricity to be restored in my neighborhood...

you can't imagine how boring life can be when you can't turn on the tv...the radio, the computer...

I was ready to bash my head in for entertainment...

OKay! Sat'dy night, innit? And Valentines to boot, innit? And here I am, as promised, posting on NOOL. Had a fight with my best friend-- the one I'm hopelessly in luurve with-- so I haven't talked with her at all today. Well, to be fair, she did call and wish me a Happy Valentines day, but I wasn't home, and didn't feel like calling back, so here I sit, broken-hearted...

Valentines day? Bah, humbug!
