New Order's Vietnam... Only kidding, though by New Order's standards it's actually crap...

Yeah, Paul Young is a good candidate, I just wonder how such a twat could be so important in the 80s, with so many truly great artists around...

Some lousy band did a cover of "Don't Dream It's Over/Hey Now" by Crowded House, which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to hear it at work constantly :nonono:

Our favorite Paul Young did that song on the SAME ep that he did LWTUA on!!! The Horror...:jawdrop:

Are you talking about the Six Pence version of that Crowded House song?

Pretty sure that's what he's talking about, they also had a pop hit with their cover of The La's There She Goes, which I thought was rather hilarious, seeing as how Six Pence is regarded as a Christian Rock band by my friends.

My vote is one I've heard only recently, so it'd be fresh in my mind, which is Belle And Sebastian's techno-geeky reworking of Young Marble Giant's classic goodbye to the Earth song, Final Day. Utter, utter garbage.:thumbdown::thumbdown:

At the risk of sounding dreadfully predictable, Gareth Gates' versions of Suspicious Minds and Spirit In The Sky (both truly magnificent songs) were horrific. :nonono:

T.A.T.U. - How soon is now?

The original was so-so, but this version is absolute crap.

No Doubt-It's my life

Just awful in all regards.

Guns 'n' Roses-Attitude

As if Misfits songs were hard, GnR manages to murder it completely

Metallica-The Wait

One of my favorite KJ songs murdered by one of the most talentless and overrated bands in the planet, at least they would've get some nice royalties had not been for EG records

:eek3: So THAT'S why I remember this song from the early 90s. I'd take Every Little Counts over this version any day of the week.

G n R - New Rose(The Damned should sue) No Doubt - Its My Life Sixpence None The Wiser - There She Goes U2 - Helter Skelter Suede - Brass In Pocket Jimmy Eats World - Firestarter

oh, and any of the karaoke reggae cover versions by UB40

I hated it when Bauhaus did Ziggy, not because it's a bad version, because it seemed so pointless after Kick in the Eye ( searchin for satori e.p )

As for G'n'R doin New Rose, I remember readin that Brian James bought some new digs in France when he heard the news, so he could avoid taxes on his royalties, fair enough. That said the whole of The Spaghetti Incident is horrible,or is that what counts for irony in LA-LA Land ?

i think the cover rammstein did of "stripped" was pretty bad.

no doubt's 'it's my life' is growing on me.

and taco's rendition of 'puttin' on the ritz' is an aural masterpiece.

on the other hand we have 'words' remade by boyzone. it was crap when the bee gees recorded it the first time, and it only got worse the second time around.

I'm gettin to the point where I have to really think about how the original sounded, thing is I didn't like the original and I'm neither here nor there with No doubt.

Boyzone comments , I gotta agree

Totally forgot that I had the Pavement's CD single for Major Leagues, so I gave that a spin yesterday. It's got an okay version of Echo's The Killing Moon, but their take on The Classical by The Fall is really lame, some new words around the "I've never felt better in my life" bit of the original.

Grace Jones "She's Lost Control" makes me squirm :nonono: I always think she sang this not as a tribute to a good song but as a blatent publicity message to say "Look how I am strange and wild". :nono:

Did she rename it "Shes a fuckin weird bitch whos lost control".:evil4:

Not that I am aware of--but she should have done so
