Quarter Final Second Leg Celtic away to Villarreal with the score tied at 1-1 which makes for a must see game on BBC3 tonight!!! I don't care what the score is as long as we progress, I will stick me neck out and say Celtic to win 2-1 tonight and go through on away goals.

Er 2-1 would see us win 3-2 on aggregate. I reckon a 2-2 draw which would see us through on away goals. Apparently there is 10,000 fans in Villarreal whose population is only 40,000. The previous record number of away fans was Roma who took 1,000. The greatest fans in the world indeed.

congratulations to Villarreal...and best of luck the rest of the way...all in all, not a bad match, with the exception of the result...but now a sudden, a sad realization has set in...I must be an albatross...I have now seen exactly 3 Celtic matches at the time they were happening (2 on the telly, and Seahawk Stadium) and they have won exactly none of those matches...maybe it's time to rethink going to see the Bhoys and Chelsea in July!!!
oh, that's right Jeff, they know when you are watching, and they ditch the matches on purpose...puh-leaze!!!
too bad there was no Thompson, Sutton, or heck, even Mr. Hartson...but injuries and suspensions are a part of the beautiful game...and there is always next year!!! (Unless you are the Rangers :p )
Aye - congratulations to Villarreal, Celtic were somewhat below par last night, but after the last couple of years Celtic have given me I cannae complain.
Gutted that I've missed out on the chance of getting to see the Bhoys in a European Final after missing out on last year, but with trips to New York & Seattle and Barcelona that more than made up for it.....plus I had the chance to brainwash Mr Chef, Biznotic Trapezeist and Green Guy into becoming fully fledged BHOYS
Hopefully Villarreal will go on and win the competition now - that will make things alright again. Oh, and one consolation.....the forces of complete and ultimate darkness could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Livingston last night, so CELTIC can win the league away to Kilmarknock on SUNDAY!!!

I beg to differ on the conversion of all of our American pals to Celtic supporters... i have it on good authority that at least a couple of them are MUFC now ;)

Not at all, although you can see as a result that players have no loyalty to a club. It's simply a job for them, a wage. Just see RVN's comments in today's press, if they are to be believed.
But I am a firm believer in the Support Your Local Side aspect of the game, much as I believe English people should generally support England at international level, Brazilians support Brazil, etc. There are obvious exceptions to the rule: ShugZV, for instance.
It's a partisan sport, always has been. Obviously that element has been eroded - just look at 'MK Dons' (sic) - but people living in Southern Counties and supporting Northern teams doesn't wash too well with me. After all, you'd never see a Manc growing up a Tottenham fan, now would you?!
I've never understood how people in the South support Northern teams moreso a Scouser supporting Carlisle.
To be fair to me Southern softie of a Bruv
DoN has very personal reasons for supporting the Mancy lads - I know he won't put it on the site, and I certainly wouldnae betray a confidence, but he still loves all the wind up involved with supporting the second biggest team in Britain;)

Fair point. Everton are my team but I follow Celtic's results and indeed Shrewsbury Town due to family reasons.
And if you move away from the town of your chosen team, as I did quite a few years ago, what are you then ? (Apart from sensible, as in my case in moving away from Worcester)

Well, I only lived the first 18 months of my life in Sussex before moving to 'Ampshire. If it's your "local" team then I should support [cringe]Portsmouth[/cringe].
Which will no doubt lead to a dilema when my kids grow up. As they were both born in Portsmouth, it would be hypocritical of me to force them to support Brighton, wouldn't it!

Tricky one really. Brought up a Worcester City fan from age 4. Living in Worcester had a lot to do with it. Sunderland 73 was the first FA Cup Final I remember watching, age 7, and I supported the underdogs naturally and sort of stuck with them. Very rarely get to see them play these days, haven't been all season in fact, so I don't really think of myself as a Sunderland fan that much (not seeing them play in the flesh is the yes/no trigger for me). Then again I've only seen City play 5 times this season !
If you support someone all yer life then move away - that shouldn't affect matters in any way. I was born in Northampton and I always look out for their results - even though I've probably only been there twice in my life!
One of my first words spoken was "Celtic" - so really there was never any doubt who I was gonna support. It's the same with Scotland - and I am exactly the way my dad wanted me to be, which is just as well - cos it's the same for everyone else in our family. I did go through a spell of supporting Everton (as has been mentioned countless times) but I was more of a fan than a supporter, they were my English team, until Mo Johnstone signed for them
(again this has been mentioned plenty of times before).
So after Judas signed for Everton my preferred team have been Man Utd cos Brian McClair was the only other ex Celt playing down here at that time
No matter where I am or what I am offered I will never stop supporting Celtic and Scotland. That's how a proper supporter should be.

Nice one Don !!! Since I really don't like US pro football much at all, it's been over 20 years since I've watched a game in its entirety, it was natural to follow the top teams in the UK. I'd been reading the music press and other magazines, so I picked up on Spurs, probably because Adrian Thrills had written about them or something, I suppose. A friend who went to England over a decade ago gave me a Spurs Holsten jersey, so it'd be stupid for me to root for another team who was faring better, I'm not one to switch teams at the first sign of trouble. I do, however, root for local teams here in other sports that I follow.
