NBA playoffs thread

I'm ripping off the hockey thread :D. My Lakers just finished off the Rockets in strong fashion. How are everyone else's favorite teams doing?

Do Lakers play against Sacramento now? If so, i hope this time Petza Stoyakovic finally gets his revenge ;) . :D As u prolly realised i dont really have an NBA fav team, but i sure have a fav player (who played for many years in my home city before he got there) and im glad he s doin so well, cos not only he always was a great player, but a very good kid as well (unless he's ruined now by all the money and fame he got over there )

If LA and Sac win those two matchups, then they will face each other in the conference finals.

Well, I´m a Spurs fan :D now that Manu Ginobili is playing with them. I hope they win again this year

i really dont care who wins, but im a big fan of kevin garnett.

I don't hate the Lakers as much as one might think, but Gary Payton has always bugged the hell outta me, even before he went professional, so I hope his opportunistic ass doesn't come close to a championship, and the same thing with Rasheed Wallace with Detroit, who has apparently pulled his head out of his ass to become somewhat of a team player.

Thought I'd read that Brad Miller of Sacto had placed a two minute limit on his time with the media, which is a bit presumptious on his part, plus the fact that the 'soft' tag the Blazers used to have has now followed Adelman to Sacto, and the Blazers had much better talent than the Kings do now. Some jive talking Sacto fan on Rome today was bragging on how they took down Dallas, like that was some kind of heroic acheivement or something Save the talking until you guys actually win something, like a conference championship first, and not one fookin' second before! Sheesh!!!!

Wouldn't mind either the Spurs, T-wolves, or Pacers to win; if it came down to LA/Sacto for the west crown (not sure, haven't checked the brackets yet), I'd pull for LA.

Damn glad I missed last night's debacle between New Jersey and Detroit; 56 points in a freakin' game? Detroit's D isn't that good Haven't been able to watch much of the playoffs yet, but I watched the first quarter of game 6 of New Orleans and Miami, and the latter team could hardly throw the ball in the ocean from the beach from what I saw, and then I caught the fourth quarter of the Lakers and San Antonio, where LA did the same thing.

LAKERS! Manu, Parker, and TD have been set packing. LA should have an easy time winning the finals now.

great ending the other night. i thought with that tim duncan shot with shaq all over his ass fading to the left 20 feet away was it, but nooooo derik fisher and that amazing shot. wish i would have watched last nights triple over time too. tristan, good week for you? dodgers win 2 of 3 and lakers come back from 2-0

Looks that way, but who knows what might happen in the next few weeks as the playoffs drag on and on.......? At least I won't have to listen to Jim Rome tomorrow, as all of the SoCal clones will be out in force (again) reminding SA that they're their bitch (again)

Helluva game five between Detroit and N.Jersey, first good one of the series, and though Richard Jefferson is someone I've never cared for ever, about as much as Payton, that was a sweet block at the end of regulation, made me stand up and go "yeah!!!!".

At this point, rooting for, in this order: T-Wolves, Pacers, Nets, Lakers, Queens, Pistons.

I've been patrolling the SA Spurs message board on ESPN reminding them that SA sucks.

Okay, Richard Jefferson's block against Detroit was really nice, but damn if Tayshaun (sp?) Prince's block last night as Reggie drove in for the tying lay in didn't blow that one out of the water. Only sorry it happened cause it made Rasheed Wallace look good on his pregame prediction.

As for the other series, will the bizarro Lakers take the floor again tonight, or will the confident one that focused on the Spurs for the last four games of that series? All I can think of is that the Lakers will cause a definite moment or two of anxiety for the rest of this series for their fans. Oh yeah, when will Gary Payton ever shut up?

Yeah that block from Tayshaun was brilliant; Detroit had 19 blocks for chrissakes. I think LA will win the next two because the games are both in LA. I feel that Minny won because they had more confidence and energy than LA, and the crowd was responsible for that. BTW Kobe is going to court before game 4, so we all know he'll have 35 points.

Seriously, go LA, have always liked Kareem Rush since he was at Mizzou so it ain't all bad. Anything but Rasheed getting a ring, I beg of you Lakers.

LA never has let Sheed beat them before, and he won't get through the Lakers this time.

BTW that second quarter officiating in the Laker game 6 was abyssmal. When Kobe has the ball the defender is allowed to put his hands on Kobe, but when Kobe plays defense, he's not allowed to touch the guy he's defending. A few of the calls on Shaq were ridiculous as well. Anyways LA should go up 2 quickly since they have home ocurt advantage, and then the Lakers should be on their way to winning their 15th title from there.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was being interviewed by Dan Patrick on his radio show Tuesday, and Dan asked him if he'd ever heard a ref ask a question like that before, and Kareem said no, at least not within his earshot. He also added that he felt that the NBA wanted Julius Erving to win a title for once in 1983, and he thought that the Lakers got the raw end of a few close calls in that series.

Oh yeah, another fun fact to think about that maybe their is some sort of weird bias about NBA officials: Wilt Chamberlain never fouled out of a game in his entire career. Yeah, right. *snort*

Kobe is innocent... until proven guilty! I remember when he was first arrested, people in downtown LA were making 'Free Kobe' shirts and selling them on the streets. Now that I look back, I should have gotten one. Anyways the shadiness of Kate Faber, the poor and over-eager case handling by the police and prosecution, the overall weak case, and Kobe's fantastic legal team will get Kobe acquitted.

well, they can't be any worse than they are now! I'm betting T-Mac will stay, they get Okafor in the draft, and next season, when Hill's contract expires, Orlando will be able to pick up a big name FA. So Orlando might actually have a bright future ahead.

ok the lakers score 68 points. they dont deserve to be champions after that awful performance. detroit is so damn fun to watch. i really hated them late 80's and early 90's, but i find myself cheering for them? weird. this team is more bad ass than the bad boy pistons. i still feel lakers will win in 6, but im hoping detroit wins it all.

all I have to say is

I'm usually not a big basketball guy, but I'm lovin' this year's finals. D-Town wasn't picked by anyone to win, yet here they are in what should have been a sweep in four, with a 3-1 lead. I love to see the Lakers fall around and get their ass handed to them like this. After three years of hogging the trophy, you just want to see them fall.

And as for Kobe...don't be a-rapin' :D

....but the proverbial pebble in my shoe will be the fact that Rasheed Wallace is on the verge of being on a championship team, when he is clearly one of the top players in the history of the NBA not deserving of this honor. *sigh*

Eh, the Lakers will always compete for the championship as long as Buss is the owner. frankly I wouldn't mind Shaq being traded for the right price (like Jermaine O'Neal and Artest), but first LA needs to find a way to get rid of GP, George, and Fox. Plus I want Kenyon Martin.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!Jermaine O'Neal, in LA? Hope not!!! The trading of him (for Dale Davis) and Brian Grant (for Shawn Kemp) by Bob Whitsitt are two of the very big reasons I don't go to Blazer games anymore (as a paying customer at any rate).

Looks like GP is gonna stay, now that Phil is gone, so maybe his attitude will improve, but I had a major suspicion that he would indeed turn out to be as disgruntled as he was by the end of the year.

Heckuva series between the Yanks and LA, the Sunday night ESPN game was great. We'll see how it turns out in the NL West, I hear that both LA and the Yanks are interested in Seattle's Freddy Garcia, but now that the Mariners are hitting again and improving, the M's aren't quite ready to deal just yet.

It was great though to see Pedro Martinez get rocked in the first inning against the Giants though, and the Red Sox are, again, slowly falling behind NY in the standings. Heard some promo for the Jim Rome show talking about Nomar's agent telling people that Nomar would like to play second base for the Yankees Great infield, Giambi, Nomar, Jeter, A-Rod.
