Its a sponge cake with raisins in i think?,im not one for spotted dicks though so i could be wrong!
Basically a boiled suet pudding with raisins and dried fruit.
The "dick" derives from Ye Olde English. Pudding was pronounced "puddink" which got shortened to "dink" or "dick".
Supposedly, British hospitals have now re-adopted the term "Spotted dick" on their menu. Some stupid politically correct twat had decided that calling it "Spotted Richard" may spare a few blushes. And I didn't make that up!
