Cannot think of French band. Image of french music is some dirty French dude with a cig hanging out of his mouth playing an accordian.
Accordians--peasant instrument of many nations and cultures.
Daft Punk. Air. 113 (hip hop). Etienne De Crecy. Alan Braxe & Fred Falcon. Dimitri From Paris.
:)
Air and Serge Gainsbourg are the best artists that come to mind
Edith Piaf was the best female singer ever

what the fook has come out of Oregon?
The Kingsmen, of Louie Louie fame. Dandy Warhols. Quarterflash. Everclear (at least I think so, I keep hearing Art kinda being a DJ on the air from time to time). John Fahey was as well, I think.
Oh, just remmebered that the Florida State vs. Miami game is on now.

The Dandy Warhols are shite, Everclear is even worse, but Sleater-Kinney is pretty darned good.

I should have been the kicker for the guys from Corvallis at Baton Rouge last weekend. Poor Beaver fans.
Indochine
Mylène Farmer
Francis Cabrel
I could go on and on... but you wouldn't know most of them ;)
I know the creme of French pop music: Mireille Mathieu (saw her live last year) Barbara Brigitte Bardot Edit Piaf Amanda Lear (though she sings mostly English) Claudine Longet (the same) Francoise Hardin Jacques Brel Michel Legrand Serge Gainsbourg Charles Aznavour Moris Chevalieu
+ Ehh.. Patricia Kaas, Milene Farmer, Daft Punk, Air, Gabin (and other electronic garbage:) )

Laughed at yer avatar, nice one. Also don't disagree with you bout the Dandys and Everclear, once saw Courtney and Art going to great lengths not to acknowledge the other's presence at a club one night, hilarious stuff. Don't feel bad for BEEVUR fans. EVER. Most of their fans are inbred trailer trash, it's a drag being so close to so many ignoramuses.

Well, you won't hear from Noir Désir in a while...
Since Bertrand Cantat, their singer, is in jail for murder...

Jacques Brel is from Belgium :p
Damn, I keep forgetting that Brel is from Belgium, as well as Salvatore Adamo.
The French language is nice and pleasant for ears but I always failed to distinguish words in it and so I never could understand where one word ends and another starts. Maybe some day :)
