MADCHESTER / INDIE NIGHT

Finally got off me arse and arranged (with the help of Mrs ZV and John) a theme night in the local pub. After my Uncle Ted's success with his second Bob Dylan night, the youngsters have decided to take over the asylum:D

If anyone's in the Corby area on November 19th, get yer arses to the Hazeltree Public House for plenty of neworder, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Charlatans, James, Inspirals, Northside, 808 State, Oasis, Smiths etc...

So for all those 30 somethings wanting to reclaim their youth and to all the youngsters who missed out the first time round, here's yer chance. £1.75 a pint all night. DJ ZV over and out:beer:

If anyone wants to shout out suggestions for songs, feel free.

Basically I have everything by The Mondays, Roses, Charlies, Neworder.....but there's always an awkward cunt that pics a record you havnae got. Trying to keep this between 87-92 though.

La's, Lush, early Blur, some Dubstar, a few Britpop songs, you could even sneak in a few Manics numbers.

It's gonna be a cracking night right enough.

you know, nothing says a party like "Gordon Lightfoot's Greatest Hits"

Actually, I would pick something like Beastie Boys "Sabotage" or "Hey Ladies" for a party....which is why I'm never invited to any. :(

Maybe some angry Elvis Costello would be better (I'm thinking This Years Model/Armed Forces stuff)

I don't know if it fits for you, Shug, but some Serge Gainsbourg in the end - when everybody is drunk - is always a cool thing to do.

In deference to Mr Bip and Reverend Drummond , ya gotta play some KLF , Mr Bip probably has his fingers in the pie that is the venue you are gonna be in and Reverend D is Bills dad of course , so they're justified ;possibly ancient and they may drive an ice-cream van . So throw some class deleted tunes on mi amigo :thumb:

How far from the Rockingham Forest hotel is the venue ? How far is Mr Bip's reach ?

Mr fookin' Bip! He used to sponsor Corby Town FC, back in the days when Gobshite Lawrenson was the gaffer.

Mr Bip is not now , nor has he ever been involved in organised crime , the violence to be found at Mr Bips nightclubs , bars and places of ' entertainment ' are merely part of the local ' colour '

Wee Shuglet is not knowingly in cahoots with, partnership with or even league with any of Mr Bips ' dealings '

Mr Bip is a family guy and does a lot for charity and sometimes local football.

It is possible but by no means certain that ; one of Mr Bips Tuxedo Warriors owes me a tooth . Bygones , the tooth has now been replaced and all is fine .

Mr Bip said that Shuglet will sleep with the fishes if he does not play WORLD IN MOTION , Mr Bip seldom jokes , though when he does ; people laugh

Rockingham Forest Hotel?

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's been renamed - but I cannae remember the name of it, it's situated next to Corby's ground if I'm not mistaken (but probably am) it's a mile or two away from The Hazeltree. Timbo's right an all Bip did used to sponsor us in the days of Lawrenson.

Trouble at his nightclubs, Christ, news gets around:lol: There was a guaranteed fight every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, starting around 1 and finishing about 3, surprised SKY didnae get in on the act. Pay per view and all that:D

I did a few flyers today - there will be a Technique Style poster campaign going on, so if Rocket Baldy wants to earn himself a few sheckles he can get in touch.

Digging around for a few songs / albums. I am in the middle of getting the Primals "Dirty Hits" and I am looking for Christine and Shine On from The House Of Love plus Brassneck by The Wedding Present. I do have some KLF stuff somewhere, the flyer is more MADCHESTER orientated though featuring covers / logo's of The Roses, Mondays, Neworder, James, Northside, Inspirals, Charlies, The Smiths and Oasis.

I am already thinking about a Punk / Ska / Mod night if this Madchester thing is succesful. Then a Britpop type thing. Then again, it could die on it's arse (tempted to make a reference to certain news events today....but I won't):p

Sorry Wee Shug , it's called the Elizabeth it's on Rockingham road .

It's next to a castle called Rockingham ( nb: septics , a castle is a very old building , older than 111 years anyways ... sorry Mr Wenorder:evil4: )

Shug, do you want a CD with some House of Love/Weddoes/other random suitable stuff on?

You may indeed;)

Timbo - a Compo would be great....as long as there's a tracklist, I don't want a Rocket Mick type production:lol:

Having consulted with me Uncle John earlier - it's definitely gonna be based more on Manchester than Indie for the first effort. The idea of a more INDIE based production will bring in a wider range of groups and a bigger timescale for the next venture.

Mr Macca, it is indeed now called the Elizabeth - it's situated exactly where I thought it was though. Yer not scaring me with a visit.....surely:uhoh: :thumb:

Mentioning the K word in Corby is a no no mate, a sure sign of a punch on the kipper is also finishing every sentence with the word ducky......alternatively mentioning Good Ole Boy will probably get you the same. Other than that there should be nae grief chief;)

Dress Code? In the Hazeltree? Nah - no problems on that front me ole cocker spaniel. Twould be good to see you making an appearance, but it's a long way for a Madchester night....espescially if you live there:D

Really looking forward to it:beer:
