recent 80s sampling bonanza...

well hell.. over the past 12 months we've seen tons of tracks hit the street using 80s samples, sometimes with 2 or more DJ's/producers using the same song! anyone have a fave? here's the ones that immediately come to mind:

i'd love to see someone snag a piece of Perfect Kiss or even something earlier and quirky like Hurt and rerelease it!

I am planning to soundclash 'The Perfect Kiss' in a MIDI demo dual reinterpretation tonight, believe it or not.

I am deliberately avoiding the phrase "mash-ups", because I don't like the idea of just cutting & pasting two songs that are of different keys and tempos, just because two vocal loops fit together.

What I plan to do will not be a remix of 'The Perfect Kiss' enhanced with an 1984 song, or vice-versa. It will be an original instrumental, with tangible infulences reinterpreted.

There have been some very good examples of using 1980s synth-rock anthems:

'Monster': The Liquid People vs Simple Minds ('Changeling') being one.

A third of the MIDI demo was pencilled in on Friday night.

It’s the roughest of audio sketches; the sounds are horribly cheesy, but I’ve only got the Cubase VST version 5 software and no hardware (other than my PC).
