Patrick. Good morning. Please don't worry about running away so abruptly yesterday. I know you're a busy man and would not take offence unless I was absolutely sure you meant to cause it.
You have reminded me that my own car is locked in a garage on the other side of town. I left it there in order to avoid the DUI charge that would have been inevitable had I chosen to drive it home on Friday night.
I had a lovely day yesterday and rounded it off with a nice bottle of red wine and a pleasant conversation with the honourable members from Belgrade and Chorley.
Mr Charge’s post, which has confused you, is an Internet link. You click on the blue writing with the line under it and a new webpage opens. I apologise if you already new this, but it had me confused earlier.
I assume that DC is sleeping now, which is why I have taken it upon myself to respond on his behalf.

I understood that DC's post was a link, but I didn't understand the point that he was trying to make, since the thread is still there, although malfunctioning.
It was my hope sometime today to do an update of the theory and post it on a new thread, but I don't know if I will have time.
I am once again at work, since I have a lot that needs to be done. I will probably be in and out today here.
Got loads of sums to do today - including take-aways.
I hate take-aways.
When I finsish them, I have colouring-in to do, so that will be alright.

I am embarrassed to admit, Big, that I have absolutely no idea what you are referring to with the terms "take-aways" and "colouring-in." I apologize for my ignorance.
To return to the subject of DC's whereabouts, I think it is a little early for him to be asleep. I believe he is 12 hours ahead of me, which would make it 9 pm in Perth, although that difference may have been altered by the start of Daylight Savings Time here last weekend. Perhaps its 8 there.
So he must be up to other things. I believe in the past he has been here on weekends.
Sums are what you learned to do in mathematics lessons at school. I believe the Americans would refer to this as simply Math. The manipulation of numbers, following simple rules, to solve problems.
Take-aways are the hardest type of sum you are likely to come across in real life. This is where you have to remove the value of one number from the value of another. When the numbers are large (consisting of more than one digit) the sums can be very hard indeed, as you may need to borrow. I really can't describe borrowing, it defies description. It happens when a particular digit in one number is smaller than the corresponding digit in the number which is being taken away from that number and it can make your sums very complicated.
Colouring-in is the application of coloured ink or pencils to an outline drawing, in order to make the drawing appear more life-like. This is a very sedentary activity, but one needs to be very careful not to go over the lines.
The colours I am using today are yellow, blue, red and a little green.

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to work Ozzy in. For example, what would Ozzy think about whether there are bells at the beginning of Who's Joe. Is Ozzy likely to agree that Dracula's Castle alludes to Cyclops' cave. That sort of thing. It'll be a snap.

But he is certainly not the only source of interest here. I have "known" H for nearly four years and he is an unending source of interest. My acquaintance with Big is very recent, but I have formed a great esteem for him. And last, but certainly not least, there is the member from Belgrade, who came to my aid when I was under attack. How could I ever forget that, combined with the unbelievabe excellence in English coming from such a geographic location? Plus additional outstanding personal qualities too numerous to list.

I've had a very productive day. I finished the work thing that I needed to finish and I've been spending a little time on the theory. It's still a very long way from being done but I think I will post an updated version before I go home.

Bit embarrasing this, Patrick. I've been walloping on for weeks about not liking Dracula's Castle. Today, I had a proper listen to it and I have completely changed my mind. The way the bass follows the melody is excellent, the lyrics are good and Barney's singing is better than I've heard in ages. Oh, and the guitars are brilliant and the drumming is perfection - that stop/start beat that you only get from the Maccelsfield Metronome.
So what should I do? Can I just start saying good things about the song and hope that nobody will remember all the bad things I've said about it in the past? Do I need to keep on saying it's crap, while secretly harbouring a burning desire to tell the world how much I love it (wear my Dracula's Castle tee-shirt under a dirty mac, so to speak)? Publically apologise on a new thread (called "Jersey-Born Huston-Based Ozzy Fan Apology", obviously)?

I would recommend simply pretending that you always liked it and challenge people to present proof to the contrary.
For example, I didn't realize you hadn't cared for it before.
I've liked it for some time, but I can't remember whether I liked it from the very first.

It's turning into a day of coincidences. I posted a message about the Glastonbury line-up, and the time stamp on the message was exactly 12.00.00.
On a normal day, this would not be worthy of comment. Following my underpant business this morning, I would say it's turning into quite a strange day.

I'm sure Nic didn't guess at #22. He either worked it out by some very scientific means or cheated by going round the back of every record shop in Britain and getting all the weeks till receipts from the waste. Amazon publish their sales figures daily, so you only have to add the two together and you're there.
The day's luck continues. We have been told that this office is to close at 17.30 tonight for a computer upgrade or something, which means that I will not have to work late. In addition, I have just had one of those ideas that is so simple and correct that nobody (including myself) will be able to believe that it has taken so long to appear.

It was. I only intended to stay for three days, ended up being more like two months. I stayed in a hotel where I learned the word dipsomaniac and (as you know) I bought some new underpants. Oh, I also tripped on a loose paving stone and cut my hand so badly that it will be scarred forever. I therefore have two things to remind me of that time.
I'm horribly bored today.

You may have missed my post above about H being jealous. It appears the reason the theory doesn't interest him is that I've been thanking you for your contributions and not mentioning him.
Well although you have used my ideas in a more direct manner, it's surely appropriate for you to acknowledge the inspiration and support of the others as well. If the initial idea was yours and Whatty’s, you shouldn’t really freeze him out now.
That's the thing with acknowledgements though; once you start thanking one person, you have to thank more, then someone feels left out and you have to thank them too. Before you know it, your serious piece has turned into the Ed Stewart Request Show.
Why not remove all references and just put a global statement at the end (or at the start) thanking all who helped? You could say something like Thanks to all at NOOL, particularly the following – then list everyone you like in Alphabetical order, to avoid looking as though there’s a pecking order (while still ensuring that I am quite near the top!!!)
If I had to come up with one criticism of the piece, it was that your references to tend to interrupt the flow of the narrative somewhat. Perhaps it would be better all round if they were to go. This isn’t helped by the fact that some of us have names which sound silly in the context of a high-minded work of academic significance such as yours. If I was called Professor BIGINOIL, it would be different.
I’m thinking of changing my name to HOUSTON OZZY FAN anyway, so the references won’t make much sense soon anyway.
I suspect it's too late to undo the damage with respect to H. I honestly felt, and still do, that your contributions have been much more central than his.
A definite problem with the piece as it stands is that it was not all written at one time, and the writing styles varied during the different composition periods. That includes the manner of crediting people for their contributions. I did think about a credits section. But I was in a hurry to get something up for public consumption.
Plus of course I've had to fit it in between more remunerative occupations.

Perhaps I'm not in the best frame of mind at the moment, but I think you may be giving them too much credit to say they are proud of their involvement. I really don't think DC takes any interest whatever in this sort of thing. I would have expected H to take some interest, wholly apart from the question of being credited or not, but perhaps I really don't know him as well as I thought I did. Sorry if this comes across somewhat sour sounding.
