Could you class Kraftwerk as techno?

Also Orbital , Underworld ,Aphex ,FSOL, (the usual)

Got some System 7 stuff.Like that one where the singer keeps going "wha habibi...".That album was superb.

Underworld 808 Y.M.O.

Underworld Orbital does Green Velvet count? Not strictly a band as such

Techno was never performed by a 'band' or 'group'- however the utilmate 'band' of sorts to make 'techno' music was Underground Resistance from 89-94 from Detroit.

The Shamen, Altern8 & Early Prodigy.

90-93 was fookin ace. (considering there was no neworder) Many happy days spent smoking copious amounts of dope drinking diamond white & taking trips. The music even crossed over into the charts with the above and others (808, KLF, Messiah, Oceanic, Bizarre Inc etc...)

Hear the drummer get wicked :D

The Shamen before they got that cockney in. KLF Mighty Force.

Orbital, chime is my favorite techno tune of all time Prodigy, up to and including Fat of the land 808 state, the early stuff.

"techno"/+ "band"... isnt this an oximoron or something... sort of a meaningless term.... and i thought DiggyMike disliked Blue Monday-like stuff...

Kraftwerk is the closest thing to a techno band it seems

Richard D. James if he would only get his head out of his arse, course he is not a band

Boards of Canada are on the downward slope also... they are no longer an "electronic" act but have "matured" into a psychodelic pseudo-band... and their new album is a bore, nice cover art thou

it's sad to see all those fresh and original acts that you've discovered because they were different from the old stuff get old and boring themselves... very depressing

Since both DM and NO feature more guitars these days,I'm going to nominate... KRAFTWERK ORBITAL LADYTRON

Cameras ready, prepare to flash ...

I could tell you some stories about my life and that track! :eek3:

Fcuk, this is a hard one. Don't really know if any of all these listed count as 'techno' but from the gist of the thread...

  1. Kraftwerk
  2. Orbital

Then any 1 from Chemicals, 808, Underworld and Autechre. Could probably even add Client and Ladytron to the list.
