Okay, I think the guy who started this thread was being serious, people! Can't we for once not give in to the childish and lazy habit of mocking the very idea of this thread by suggesting imporbable and quite honestly insulting possibilities to play the late great Ian Curtis. Goddamit, people! Can't we be serious for once?....![]()
That being said...my money's on Gary Busey :p

howz about jack black then or jack osbourne??
the new Doctor Who???
not sure he could look really depressed though. he's too chirpy lookin.
i'd like to see some actor who is actually ian's age. i don't know many of the up-and-coming british actors, but there must be a few who could do it.

That wouldn't be at all convincing: Gary Coleman is far too short.

way too old. if he gets gets considered, then heck i could do it. it may be time to practice my manc accent again.
There's a homeless guy down the road who's a great actor at having various maladies - I'm sure if you promise him free booze, he'll be glad to take the part. ![]()
Having watched BATMAN BEGINS again at Xmas on DVD,I stand by my choice of Cillian Murphy (The Scarecrow). Not only is he supposed to be a JD fan,it's something about the eyes.
Though I'm not a big fan on teen idols, Joshua Jackson would probably be a good match for Ian. He has Ian's eyes and his height.
Now, that's good for an American actor. I wonder who would be a good British actor for the part.
Is this a British film,or an American film? I think that will make all the difference in which actor will play Curtis, don't you? If it's an American film, it will have to be someone who can handle the guns, car explosions, and fight scenes with that cool, steely demeanor. Maybe Bruce Willis? Or, since he's playing a Brit, maybe Jason Statham.

Good choice, though I do worry "Ian" would spend too much time indulging in his obsession with getting a stew going and not enough time trying to kill himself ![]()
Also, the movie would have to be rewritten to have Ian die in the ring at the hands of a Russian boxer, and be avenged by his former rival and friend Rocky Balboa :p

Out of all the 'Rocky' pictures, that's still my favorite one. ![]()
In a world, on the brink of collapse, there's just one man who can figure it all out...
IC: You don't want to fuck with me, major international terrorist fucker. I've had a terrible day, and you just made my "to-do" list.
Alan Rickman [mincing German Accent]: You wouldn't shoot an unarmed man, would you, Curtis?
He's getting out of the music business, and into the ass-kicking business
IC: I'll give you til the count of ten to get out of my way...one
Rickman: But...
IC: Two...
Rickman: A-ha, I have a weapon after all...this thermo-nuclear device that will go off if I expire!
IC: [pause to puff on cigarette]...I'll take those chances [pops a shot at the camera]
This summer, the baddest motherfucker...will be Ian "Death Metal" Curtis!
(Manchester going up in nuclear blast as LWTUA blares on the soundtrack)
Pierce Brosnan is Bruce Willis is Sly Stallone is James Bond as....Ian Curtis in "She's Lost Control Of the ThermoNuclear Device In Her Pants, and Now She's a Dead Soul!!!!!!
IC: Oh fuck it, I'll ring Barney up and see if he wants to get pissed in Salford.
Coming to Theaters This Christmas

Finn Vine, lead singer of White Rose Movement. He not only looks like Curtis, he even owns a Vox Phantom. ![]()

I took this picture myself in Barfly, London. :D

Good God! He does look like Ian, especially with that guitar. Reminds me of the music video for LWTUA. If he can act, Finn Vine would be my first choice.
i second Samuel L. Jackson... slightly change Joy Division into black jazz/ proto- hip hop group trying to make it big in 1930s Berlin, but gets censored and harasssed by the Nazis. Ian (Sam) would hang himself before going to the concentration camp... it would make a very moving movie that has it all, and clean up at the awards
It's summer time, and Ian Curtis is after one thing...
IC: Fellas, the ladies are out on the beach, just waiting for four young studs to bed them. Who's in?
Sex may be the only thing on his mind, but it's not the only thing he's getting
Barney: What's third base like?
IC: It's like a slice of warm fish pie...
(cut to Barney fucking a fish pie)
Yep, they're just randy horny English teens, and they're ripe for picking!
Hooky: Mrs. Sumner, you're trying to seduce me, aren't you?
This summer, they're gonna go all the way...
IC: Oh...oh Debbie.
Female: My name's Annik, asshole!
IC: That's what I said...does it matter? Here, take this pill and it'll all be better.
Or die trying
Steve: You fancy a screw?
Gillian: Yeah, alright.
You'll never look at pie the same way
Eugene Levy: We'll just tell your mother that we...ate the pie...
This summer, it's all about the pie...MANCHESTER PIE!!!
Barney: What, you want me to finish that fucking pie?
Coming to theaters this August...Love will tear it apart, or Barney's big dick. Whichever comes first!...

From the Master of Modern Horror comes a tale so chilling, it could only be made up
IC: Guys, we're just a bunch of ordinary men trapped together on an artic base with a shape-shifting alien that can transform into any one of us once it kills us off. Our chances of survival aren't great. And I thought I'd write a song about it called "Living In the Ice Age".
Other cast members: Wait, what was that part about the alien again?
John Carpenter returns to the big screen, and Ian Curtis is his rough-and-ready hero for the adventures to come!
IC: Okay, here's the situation: the President's plane has gone down in the island fortress of Manhatten...but first let me demo this rough mix of "Dead Souls" so you can learn the chord changes
Other cast members: Wait, what was that part about the Prez going down in Manhatten?
Carpenter combines all of his scripts, including the half-baked ones, to render the cinema obselete with his magnum opus starring the former Joy Division frontman. And it put Paramount out of business before it even opened!
IC: Here's the skinny: there's a good chance we might get attacked by angry vampires, fog-bound pirates, or Lee Van Cleef. Oh, and I thought maybe we could call the album "Closer". What do you think?
Other cast members:...wait, what about the vampires?
IC: Maybe you guys would go for a tender love story about an alien from outer space and an earth woman? Or a killer car?
This Summer: John Carpenter's The Thing From Halloween Who Got Lost In the Fog with Christine and an Assault on Precinct 13 by Vampires While Escaping From New York and Los Angeles...starring Jude Law! as Ian Curtis!
Other cast members: Wait, what was that part about Lee Van Cleef?
Go see it this summer...if you dare
I saw a photo of a young George Best the other day and the likeness to Curtis was incredible!
I did see some other actor recently who looked Curtisy, but it slips my drunken mind at present......

Please don't mention Jude Law again.
On the bright side, I'm glad you came up with a new idea:D
