I am not the grin merely denoted I'm not quite as cold and hard hearted about the issue as my words suggest.

In the name of board harmony...

So, does this fall under the Pope's category of "olde tyme religun" (and thus is open to derision), or am I supposed to respect it as a cultural difference?

Richard Dawkins is a pinko!

I say....tell them all God said the sea was a cool place to live.

Let's have a society based on discussion and reality, not muthical fairy kings doling out vengance and inspiring his followers to hate in the name of his love. I may let the budhists stick around, although they are unlikely to buy into the "hey everyone, the sea is holy" line.

Y'konw for all I slag bush off, there are days when you're all safer in his hary lil paws than mine. Very often I find myself thinking....DO IT, wipe the monkeys out, it's time the cockroaches took a crack at it.

it's one of the weird things I always wonder why people dont get..... it doesn't REALLy matter what we do, tomorrow we could crack off all our nukes and all our BC weapons, and burn all the oil at once and do everything bad. We'd fuck the place up We'd wipe our selves out We'd take a lot of others with us We'd be gone The Earth would care...oooooh not very much and just get on with the next thing.

Only human arrogance makes us think the world has to be the way it has been for the last few thousand years forever.

Steve grows serious for once....... There's a little speech given by the commander in Babylon5, that nearly reduces me to tears. Someone asks him why we should bother being out in space...

"No. We have to stay here, and there's a simple reason why. Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics - and you'll get ten different answers. But there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on: whether it happens in a hundred years, or a thousand years, or a million years, eventually our sun will grow cold, and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us, it'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-tsu, Einstein, Maruputo, Buddy Holly, Aristophanes - all of this. All of this was for nothing, unless we go to the stars."

Obviously he ommitted New Order as he knows that in 2034 the remaining members and their back catalogue were nabbed by some musically clued up bug eyed monsters.

Crybaby.

That's what I love about Welles' The Time Machine. So much science fiction assumes it's all over within 50 years. 1984, for one. Terminator 2 had us all dead in 1997. I didn't see The Day After Tomorrow, but that sure sounds soon. But Welles' time traveler punches the accelerator and heads to 802,701 A.D.

nice bab 5 quote steve, and its in the light of that i say that i couldnt care less about a bunch of individuals at any religious event being trampled, blown up,squished whatever. religion and telivision is the opium of the masses and the fact that they got flattened on a holy day at a holy site is just gods way of saying that he dont exsist.

Or kidnapping journalist and aid workers and filming their cloaked selfs hacking off the heads of their captives.

Yeah, I am ashamed of being a Christian. Page 3 in the Bible instructs all Christians to castrate heathen males and bayonet their children. Thought I could skip that part just like my grandfather kinda skipped a few pages in Mein Kampf hoping the anti-Jew passages were filler.

let the new testament speak for itself:

'think not that I am come to send peace on earth: i came not to send peace, but a sword.'--matthew 10:34

'for god commanded, saying, honour thy father and mother: and, he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.'--matthew 15:4

'he that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of god.'--john 3:18

'and every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.'--matthew 19:29

'he that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.'--luke 11:23

And yet not one word is the word of god but the word of man pretending to be a god.
