I was in MCR the other day with a pal, he was checken out a motorbike from ebay that turned out to be a shanner.(hell fucken mend em for looken on ebay in the first place) While he was doing that I was away checken out all my local haunts ie (record shops) I was in a well known R s,(record shop) that shall remain nameless, and they were discussing the recent events with new order playing there home gig at the Apollo and the Brixton gig. Apparently the only reason for this was that they reackond that the band and record company were running at a loss with the release of the WFSC album,this is why the record company had released the singles collection and the Item dvd set ect, and pressured the band into playing London and MCR. Was this to try and re-coup some money for barneys (boat)

hmmmm. Are gigs still where the money is made? I know a good tour used to be able to swell the coffers a fair bit better than a hit album.

And, with regard to a loss on WFTSC and making it up wth gigs.... If warners had any sense they'd have limited original runs on the album, and these days production costs aren't half as scary as they once were, so not MUCH of a loss to be made, I mean it isn't like they were blockbooking MTV for promotion or anything. Would Warner's bother sending the band out over what is to them pocket change?

If however they did throw "full international prestige release" money at WFTSC, I doubt a couple of shows could do much to offset it.
