Fresh Garbage - Great for the t-shirts, badges, sweatbands, joss sticks etc.
Got this t-shirt today for £12.99
No Alibis - Mainly a detective fiction bookstore, they cater for manys a taste. The owner is one of the soundest people about, offering a bottomless free cup of tea or coffee, and always gives me discounts. Nice one.
Hector's House - Great for bootlegs, hard to find, vinyl, DVD's etc.

heavy metal bar is in Wood Street i think. can't think of its name though. went in the other week before going the pictures. jesus. couldn't drink up fast enough. way too heavy. like butthole surfers meets pantera.
Yeah...Probe in Slater Street used to be good, but who needs it now, what with HMV and online download stuff. Got me Monkehs CD in Asda man.
Quiggins on Blue Coat Chambers with the little stall type shops is for Stew-dies, techno heads ,hippies and snow boarders. so whats the point of that too.

From what I remember, it's facing the church that was destroyed during the blitz. TONS of JD/NO vinyl.

That's Rip Off. It used to be in North Street Arcade before it burnt down.
Some good stuff, but there's a woman who works in it that will not leave you alone when you're looking at the stuff.

Thats the one. And yes the staff in there do piss me off too. I asked them if they had a Smiths "Hatful of Hollow" tshirt, they had it but not in my size. They badgered me for ages trying to get me to buy it. Its quite small fitting sir, it will shrink in the wash anyway. FFS leave me alone if you don't have the proper size

That doesn't surprise me. One time I was looking at a Radiohead t-shirt in there and they were looking £20. In Fresh Garbage, and even Stiletto (whose quality of t-shirts is abysmal) they had it for £11.99.
Head round to Fresh Garbage in future. They had a cracking Meat is Murder one in today, and I got a World Won't Listen one off them a few months back.
Also must recommend Forbidden Planet, due to the sheer diversity of their collection of comics.
Oxfam bookstore, when they're not trying to rip me off when it comes to vinyl.

No argument here........I don't frequent any place like that, only "food" place I'd list is a local bakery with some very nice "talent" working there (hey, they're customers of ours, I can go there easily without looking like a stalker..:) )
Powell's (a great bookstore).....or Ozone (one of the best record stores in the area) otherwise.
I would say the record shop but the ones near me are shit!
World market, sells UK goods so if I need some proper junk food I know where to go.... $8 for a bottle of vimto, bargain! (yes, I still like a bit of vimto now and then)

In Philadelphia, there aren't any shops in my area. There's a movie theater, a supermarket, and a lot of pizza places, but that's about it, unless I go into the downtown area, and then, that's completely different. There's Sound and Video Odessey, which is where I buy most of my CDs and tapes (used, of course). For food, there's Giana's pizza, which makes vegetarian cheese steaks.
In Boston, the local CD shop, In Your Ears, has a pretty good selection of used tapes and CDs. As far as food goes, there are too many places to mention.

I lived in Boston a while.. have you checked out Newbury Comics? There's one by Governement Center and in Harvard Square. They have a good selection of Cd's and decent prices.

No consumer loyalty here, everything's a franchise and those don't warrant any appreciation.
Back where I used to live there's a surprisingly successful Caffino drive-around with good coffee and pastries and an ingenious design that was obviously imported. The other cafe chain I like is Segafredo, which is too posh to exist anywhere but in the heart of the city. There's no other cafe here in which you can get a roll, an espresso, some mineral water, and a shot of white wine before heading off to work.

I lived in Boston a while.. have you checked out Newbury Comics? There's one by Governement Center and in Harvard Square. They have a good selection of Cd's and decent prices.
I have been to the one in Harvard square, but I still prefer In Your Ear. However, neither of them can compete with Sound and Video Odessey in Philly.
Escape From New York Pizza-- better than most New York pizza, even. The only pizza that I've had that was probably better was in Brooklyn. The places I've tried in Manhattan just don't measure up. Escape From New York is a legendary pizza parlor on Portland, OR's artistic 23rd St. It features huge wall murals with a New York City theme and pizzas (whole or by the slice) with slices over a foot in length. It's popular among Portlanders and tourists from all walks of life.
Whole Foods-- organic groceries.
Portland Farmers Market-- organic produce.
Powell's Books-- a landmark institution covering a city block .
Veloshop-- a vegan bicycle shop in downtown Portland.

Ditmars Pizza , in Astoria Queens was the best slice of Pizza i ever had, but they sold the shop and now its sandro's and its not as good
