very different. de la soul is dead is not bad, but the rest sounds more like mainstream rap. they lost the whole 'daisy' thing after 3 fet high and rising.

Yeah the psychedelic-lite and jazz rap air steadily got scrapped. Q-tip is still a talented guy, but Me, Myself, and I was more or less the group's peak.

I'm sitting here looking at Stakes is High (1996) still in wrapped in the cellophane just like the day I brought it home and placed it on the shelf with my other cds. When or where and why I purchased it I do not recall. I am afraid that I will be disappointed, such is the curse of many lps I purchase although I purchase few. 3 Feet High and Rising brings back many memories of my college days. One of the few lps that my roommates never bitched about me being on a New Order, Ministry, Butthole Surfers, Sonic Youth and Front 242 diet to drop a few names. Iv'e been so turned off by the diraction hip-hop took in the mainstream.

i agree with Barney Army and say that the Stone Roses eponymous debut is 'untouchable'. for me, it stands out as one of those records that when you even look at the cd, it speaks to you.

underworld's 'dubnobasswithmyheadman', moby's everything is wrong and leftfield's leftism is way up there for edm.

The shocker for me is that this has been on sale at tesco for £2.97 for the past month. Now I thought people were being a bit precious about NO albums constantly at the bagain price of £4.99 in HMV. This one's barely a year old! seems a little insulting really. Having said that, if anyone hasn't got it, you can't go wrong at this price!

yeah i was a bit shocked too when my brother came home with a copy of Some Cities from Tescos for £2.97.A bit of an insult.
