Alberta just gave everyone living here (Regardless of age) $400.00 because we have no dept, and we made a lot of extra money for our oil revenue. My home just got $1200.00 because we have 3 people living here. And we only pay 7% tax, as most other provinces pay extra provincial tax. We do get snow, but Alberta gets warm winds from the mountains so the snow never lasts. but this year is weird we only got snow once this year and that was in November. It now February and still no snow. And Alberta is very unique because we have a major job shortage, Companies are starting to look to the east and out of the country to fill jobs, because every company is hiring. If you cant get a job here, you really are useless. And most westerns are filmed here. Brokback Mountain was filmed here, and everybody is raving about how good the backdrop is in the movie. (Of course I would never watch it
) And it is very safe here. We don’t have any gang areas, or bad neighborhoods. Just middle-class, upper-middle class and rich) And of course free healthcare 
You do pretty much need a car here, as Buses suck.
As for the rest of Canada, BC is nice but it always rains, and there is no snow. Middle Canada is boring, And Ontario is busy, and most like the USA. Quebec is French and always trying to separate from Canada. And eastern Canada sucks, full of Jobless bums, who rely on the government to take care of them. They are the butt of all our jokes here. And the people from the east who work with me are the laziest people in my company. When I say East I mean after Quebec.
But overall Canada is great & safe, but sometimes a little cold.

as long as it's not in winnipeg. i've heard unpleasant things about winnipeg from people who live there.

Come on Jim, you are exagerating a lot there... just because many people in the east rely on jobs that are not 365 days a year doesn't mean they are lazy..
Gee, I though Stephen Harper said that ONCE and that was so badly received he still struggles when he goes there.
As for Quebec.. you obviously didn't learn your lesson well, New Brunswick is also half french, so is eastern Ontario... and areas of Quebec near Ontario and the US border are a lot more english, so is the whole west island of Montreal.
In Montreal, pretty much everybody is bilingual and nobody has a problem living here in english (despite what I would like, but that's another story)
Can't say since I've never been further than Toronto to the west, but I have visited many areas, 3 times New Foundland, a few times New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island.. Nova Scotia onces, Ontario a few times.. I still believe Montreal is the best place of them all ;) beautiful architecture, french and english sides, superb nightlife, many things to do in the summer....
Not like "wanting to seperate" is changing anything to that, except a few companies decided to move their headquarters to Toronto and Calgary because of that of course...

It's now Norway or Denmark (well, maybe not these weeks though)... but this thing is a total joke.
Doesn't stop a lot of people to have many problems they should have in a country like ours, that's for sure.
As for Winnipeg, beside being the reason why we have Winnie the Poo, I heard it's also a pretty boring place many times, but I can't say since I've never been there... maybe we should ask Logan ;)

Curious, because I've been thinking recently about a summer intensive in French that I think is ofered in Montreal.

fort mcmurray 
If the job is in the oil/gas industry, I would say then think about accepting the offer..if its not, then prob Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver are the only places worth moving for..depends with what your goals/interests/lifestyle is like now.

I love Canada, but have only been to Toronto and Montreal, i would love to live in Montreal one day, its a great beautiful city with great people, very Historic, very Laid back.

mr big, one of my mates has just re-located to Calgary from Aberdeen. I emailed him and he said this about it - scandinavian style housing/hot women/rockies/v.cold in winter/winter sports. he said he visited toronto at the weekend and that he now wants to move there though.
Calgary, well you will love it, as Calgary is Canada's best kept secret. It is a one hour drive to the mountains and Banff. And 3 hours from the USA, but there is nothing in Montana worth seeing and about 3 hours to Edmonton. Sorry you missed your free 400.00 check.
But hey with 2 of us here, maybe we can get New Order to come :D

Well I recommend watching "Brokeback Mountain" As it was filmed in the Calgary area. And Ang lee put as much Backdrop as he could into the movie.
And Dallas north was more of a 80's thing.
But dont expect to hear New Order here. Only one station will play it and they will only play (Blue Monday, BLT & Regret) Sadly this city is a Clasic rock & Country city. And as for concerts the last New Orderish concert was Depeche Mode in 1990. Well the killers did come as well. But mostly we just get rock concerts.
We do get cheap flghts to Las Vegas & California.
