Can't believe Jose re: humility in defeat. When asked if the best team won over the two legs he gave a negative answer as usual.

At least Sir Alex admitted Wigan should have won last night.

The Press must be getting ready to give Jose a good hiding.

So glad Chelsea are out. I'm as anti-Man Utd as anti-Chelsea these days. Not to mention my dislike for Real Madrid.

I'm not sure if I'm more offended at the idea of being a scouser or the idea of wanting to be one ;)

Beyond the 40 odd thousand in the ground do you mean? Dont suppose they"ll give a rat's ring about that then...

Ronaldinho bumps into Terry, Terry being twice his size decides to go down just like it says in the CFCJM coaching manual, Ronaldinho being half his size just bounces off to the right where the ball's going, he shoots, he scores...! Got to be a moral in there somewhere.

Er, I'm sure most Liverpool fans will support Liverpool, but then I'm sure most Chelsea fans supported Chelsea last night. So your point's lost on me, I'm afraid.

Did read something recently about how some real dyed in the wool blues are almost apologetic for being Chelsea supporters because it's not exciting anymore...

I dunno how true that is..

Yeah yours too....

Not too many rent boys in the LFC squad, ManU either for that matter, okay maybe Ronaldo, and their managers dont have their heads up their own arses so they dont attract the universal hatred like CFC currently do. Most 'thinking' people will see it as two British clubs flying the flag in Europe tonight - that certainly wasnt the case last night. To me its a pity it isnt three!

Have to say, I lost interest in the game after the first half and listened to the new Mogwai album instead... Anyone wanna talk about that?

I regard myself as a 'thinking person' Steve, but - in case you hadn't noticed - football is largely a partisan sport. There was a quote in the game yesterday that there would've been more Chelsea fans in Madrid last night, than on Merseyside. I grew up in a time before the Premiership when every glory-hunting flid the length and breadth of England supported Liverpool just cos they 'were the best'. Who cares if ManYoo of late, or maybe Chelsea, now hold that title, I still know lots of plastic scousers (I sit opposite two at work) who will be cooing about tonight's game. Conversely, I don't know a single Benfica fan who will be up himself tomorrow should they get a result so I'd rather see them win.

I regard you as one too and I had noticed. The people you talk about generally migrated away from LFC during the fifteen odd barren years and ended up at, who knows, maybe your team in the nineties and CFC today as you say. I grew up when it was Leeds who were at the top of the pile and Chelsea were a team worth supporting. Plastic fans - all the big clubs have them - there are more LFC fans in Thailand than on Merseyside, your lot sell more replica kits in Japan and China than you do at Old Trafford. Im not too fussed about the fans, its those eleven mostly Portuguese who are going to try and cheat their way through the game tonight like they always do. Most thinking people will see that early on and support the team of non-divers. On top of that there's a big Portuguese community here so I have a vested interest!

Cliche-time... Don't care about off-filed allegiances or twat-managers or 'plastic' supporters... If I'm gonna watch the game, I want to see a good match, good football and for 90 minutes at least would like to see a Premiership team win...

It's what all the local ponces all refer to Crouch End as, in a dodgy French accent.

Bit like Bat-er-see-er, or Saint Reatham.

Yeah yeah yeah...!

The best team round here is Kaiser Chiefs so that should tell you something..

By the way 'your lot' are down here in July, bit closer than Mandalay - coming?!

No, I meant Crewe...

And ManU...minus the big stars of course, the medium egos sit on the bench till the last 20 minutes then come on and make sure its an honourable draw then all go off to shake hands with old Nelson in Houghton and hop back on the plane with a nice suntan! LFC did it once or twice then realised it was a long way to come for SFA...

United did it '93

Seem to remember they did some good work with kids in the poor townships.

You're probably right...

It was Stan Matthews who came over here year after year for that though. Anybody who remembers Terry Paine and Eddie Lewis, not forgetting Gary Bailey, they're all over here on the 'experts' panel on Supersport and are involved in that too.
