Gary flamin' Numan!!! What the fuck has he got to do with New Order. File alongside Depeche Mode, Erasure and Pet Shop Boys as one of these acts who for some unknown reason get mentioned in the same breath as the mighty NO. Stop it! They're all shite.

Gary Numan was also an outspoken Thatcherite back in the 80's. Nuff said.

and he hasn't done a decent song since 1979...

Gary Numan????!!! UGH!! YEUUCCH!! :nonono:

As one pop paper once said: "his music is enough to make a cream cake turn sour....".

NEVER liked the guy. But then don't suppose many 2-Tone fans at the time like me ever liked his pretentious shite when he first popped out of the funny farm to freak us all out.....

So what does he have in common with New Order apart from using synths? Triple chins perhaps? Terrible dress sense?

:cool2: :cool2:

PISS OFF!!!! i like gary. he was far to obsessed with philip dick to have any coherent political views or connection to reality. and no, he doesnt sound the slightest bit like new order. he also doesnt sound any thing like mode or the pet shop boys (i dont know anything about erasure). the fact that he looks and sounds slightly fucked up is part of why he is so fucking charming. he has admitted publicly that cars is nowhere near his best song. and since i started listening to him in the 90s, no one can accuse me of being done in by heavy corporate marketing. when i was listening to gary, i was supposed to be drooling over the spice girls and silverchair. AND he autographed my trench coat! so piss off!

YEAH, HANDS THE F###KING OFF GARY, EVERYONE!!!

BACK IN 78, THE TUBEWAY ARMY WAS REALLY DIFFERENT FROM MOST ROCKERS....besides John Foxx & co...

LOOK!!! EVEN BILLY PUMPKIN ADMITTED BEING A BIG FAN...

Gary's alright. A bit of a headcase at home surrounded by Union Jacks and Dobermans but he did some neat stuff in his day. Cars was the first single I bought with my pocket money readily in hand, down at Woolies...... Ah yes, jumpers for goalpasts, small machmen in the park, thats whats it all about, isn't it?

Think you might have got that a little wrong there Tabsy - the baby of the band is GILLIAN, not Steve, She was born in 1961. Which makes her 45 in 2006.

It doesn't matter he's 50. He doesn't dance, his music is programmed, his ovice is eternal. What a bunch of bollocks.

Early Gary Numan is ace. Like Joy Division he was a prophet of doom and alienation. Cracking stuff, needs to be heard. Happy Birthday Gary!

Yuo mean Gary Numan is like Mary Poppins - always brings bad with him? And he sings like her, too.

I went to see him live here (in the Tripod) 2 weeks ago - never had seen him live before, so I thought it was an opportunity not to be missed.

Turned out to be a great gig - yes he has a weird voice & vocal style, but he can do that perfectly live too. He seemed to be enjoying himself - none of Bernard's 'dad-dancing' but he still got around the stage a lot - certainly did more than just stand behind a keyboard & look glum!

Bastardo looks younger & fitter that ever too

What's the Gary Numan track that Basement Jaxx ripped off for 'Where's your head at?'. I only heard that recently and was gobsmacked it was a total ripoff. Total respect to him for that.

And he married the head of his fanclub. And she's quite fit (in a Goffbird kindaway). :food:
