On March 14, 2006, Isaac Hayes quit South Park in saying that he didn't like how South Park was treating various religions, claiming that there was a difference between satire and intolerance. However, a large part of South Park's fan-base believe that he is leaving due to the contorversial episode Trapped in the Closet ,and its treatment of Scientology. Series co-creator and writer Matt Stone, commented in a manner that suggested that Hayes practiced a double standard regarding the treatment of religion on South Park: "[We] never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin." The fate of the Chef character is unknown at the moment, whether the show creators will replace Hayes or simply do away with the long standing charcter remains to be seen, and some fans believe this will be the focus of South Park's Season 10 premier, which is currently set to air on March 22.
