But do feel happy to talk about them as if they're from another race: "The Goth lifestyle allows you to lead a perfectly sane, stable lifestyle with a proper job, your own flat and even a family, then at the weekends or in your leisure time follow your Gothic activities," said Dr Brill."

Goths are allowed "their own flat"??!! This country is going to the banshees.....
Seriously, though, isn't normalising the - ahem - Gothic lifestyle* - pretty much a stake through the collective heart of everyone's black-clad, angst-ridden subculture-ites?
* - Does backcombing your hair seriously constitute a "lifestyle"?
lol. i believe i may have slight gothic tendencies. i don't dress like them, or god forbid wear makeup, but some of those goth girls.... .
Well, in tht case definitely don't listen to Half Man, Half Biscuit With Goth On Our Side...

I've never been fond of Goths because the ones around my neck of the woods (in High School) all wandered around with an "undeserved look of smugness" about them. It was as if they knew some big secret the rest of us were missing out on.
The Goth ethos is mainly to be individualistic isn't it? In that case why do they all look and dress the same way? The same shitty, angsty records on their headphones?
Anyone remember that Irn-Bru "Cheer Up Goth!" TV advert? ![]()
Must be murder for sheep and pig farmers with Goth kids..Constantly keeping a check on the livestock...Anyhow,how can a goths future be bright when they are supposed top themselves at no later than 24 arn't they?![]()

my favourite south park episode is the one where stan decides to become a goth. the head goth tells him that he can become a 'non-conformist' goth as long as he dresses exactly like them and listens to the exact same music that they do. he turns up in a grey hat with a black pom-pom on the top--brilliant.
We keep getting South Park re-runs on a Sunday night, i'm gonna make a point of recording them. The other night i was howling, i forgot how funny it could be. Class show!

Edit: Further to that nonsense just look what they have to say about themselves on Wikipedia, sample;
Corporate goths Though some are lucky enough to find work in Bohemian establishments that do not care what one looks like, elder goths often end up finding work in the corporate sector and wear corporate gothwear, which satisfies gothic tastes in fashion without alienating more conservative co-workers. Corporate gothwear varies based on individual taste, though a David Bowie influence is often prevalent. Examples include, but are not limited to, a black pinstripe suit and burgundy shirt for men and a black turtleneck and skirt with silver jewelry for women. A recent BBC magazine article suggests that parents rejoice rather than lament when their kids become attratcted to Gothic influences, [[3]]. It suggests goths are generally more literate, intelligent, and tolerent than the average person.

Now, corporate chavwear could be interesting, pinstriped tracksuits and Burberry cufflinks, anyone?

On its website, the Parents' American Religious Organizations [sic] Defending Youth, Parody for short, blames Goths for everything from the Columbine massacre to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and South Park.
right. off to buy some hairspray and kohl liner....
last night, I woke up because my cat was miauwing and jumping around. she was hunting a bat... a bat in my bedroom (I spend a week by my parents' house who are away).
so don't mock me, I am not a goth because bats are in my room.
- as teenager goths mocked me because I was a New Order fan...
