By the way, I saw a band called Lorraine at the 100 Club on 15/03/06. See the guardian unlimited review for the night before at http://arts.guardian.co.uk/reviews/story/0,,1730918,00.html (or something, I dunno how to do links!). He compares the band to New Order FIVE times! Joy division once and also Kratwerk. Peter Saville's doing the art direction, and reviwer suggests the band must have "spent hours poring over copies of Blue Monday". He conculdes they should be especially popular in Salford (What for throwing bottles at?!). What i saw was a trio of scandanvians making eighties synth pop -lite with a bit of major label money behind them. That's right they're the new A-ha! But not as good. The reviewer musta been drunk on free booze. Read the review anyway . it's funny!:read:

Well what is the score anyway....are they just doing what frank did anyway? sort of playing some guiatar and talking nonsense?

I love old school insane, funny, musically genius zappa, I rather suspect any such show with Mr Vai involved will focus on Franks wanky guitar music period.

And Liam....you will be deaf by 35 mate!!!

Good point Ronno...which once again brings me to...

If you had to replace a member of New Order for being consistently shite on stage...... would you pic the electronics? Cos I sure as hell wouldn't.

Bring back Gillian's machine and put BARNEY on tape...THAT IS HOW TO MAKE THEM SOUND BETTER

I'm always on one about the brutal and disgusting way in which NO's most important members have been treated.

Maybe Steve and Gills should sell the gear on Ebay, so I can buy it and care for it and fucking RUN it....I have a dark cold feeling when I think about a rack of voyetra8's in a shed gahering dust, and with an ecosystem developing inside (when I finaly had to have my casio CZ3000 Destroyed (sniff), greenpeace did an environmental impact study on it FFS.

I mean, I could understand this if anyone could show me the evidence of the machines getting it wronger than Barney.

At the moment I'll be making 2 Morrissey dates at Dundee Caird Hall then Glasgow Academy at the end of next month. Nothing else planned yet but if New Order do reactivate for summer gigs then I'll make an effort to get to most of them. Might even get booked up for the Greek festival depending on me finances.

I'd love to see Editors too, must investigate their tour dates.

Next week I have Hard-Fi, Art Brut and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, then Ladytron on the 17th, but in the last few weeks there's been Belle & Sebastian, BRMC, Battle X2, and, not starting with a "B", Elefant and Isobel Campbell.

Hmmm I dunno, wanting recognition, wanting easy access to groupies, wanting to really piss off cunts who put you down, And wanting to play to BIG crowds...that's fine, but wanting your wedding in "hello" (or your funeral in "goodbye") or some weird stench in a bottle named after you...that's just fucked up.

This thread has made me feel rather ashamed...because for a so called musician, I have rammed my head in the sand for a good 3 or 4 years now and ignored almost everything. I think the last new music I heard was when Hooky was on radio 6 that day...seriously. And I can't even claim that I'm an old bastard and there's nothing I like, cos there's loads of brilliant minter than mint music around. I think my only defence lies with over exposure to chart music at work (shudder), and the fact that the record industry are slicker and slimier than ever and there are almost no REAL bands, no New Orders....FFS even NO aren't QUITE as No as they were...cept Hooky, that old bugger's last words will be "fook the lot of you....Ian I'll be there in a minute mate, mine's a fookin triple" or something...there's no one playing music cos they HAVE to, and who hasn;t been co-opted by "the Biz". Then again, I'm Not in possession of all the facts, it's just an impression I get. Everyone seems to care about the look, the scene and all the other pish that just dilutes the music.

New Order really mess you up man :D

Yeah, but i dont think thats someting most of them want, its something they accept for being famous, like the price they pay. If i was famous, i wouldnt want my wedding to be in any magazine or such. But you're gonna get pestered by the press, you may aswell co-operate then at least they'll leave you alone when they get what they want.
