Can I just say I hate this shed bullshit? It's done nothing but polarize this community and there are people who liked this board who are really on neither side (hello, me) getting caught in the crossfire.

It contributes to the US v THEM mentality that's been prevalient of late, and it's not contributing anything to the overall community but headaches.

I like the people with shed's in their name, I like the people who hate them (though they don't seem to care for me much), but all this bullshit is just getting a bit much, and it will quiet down as soon as the shed names stop.

But the whole point of what has since become known as the shed was to provide some sort of relief for all those who were sick of lots of irrelevant threads on BCD. Lots of people read and look at that thread cos they find it amusing, but I think generally those of us who were perhaps at fault for the problems on BCD have tried to find an amicable solution... I tried to contribute positively to the discussions on post-counts, threads, etc., toned down my posting, at least until the 'Shed' thread was created and have continued to post on any and every forum where I think I have something relevant to say. Changing a username or a picture or a signature doesn't in itself signify that someone is trying to distance themselves from the rest of the community, it's what you actually do on that community that counts. If some people ae only now posting in one thread, it's because that's the only relevant one for them, which means that, by some people's logic, their contribution pre-shed wasn't worth much, so they're not worth worrying about... If it means that much to you or anyone else I'll get rid of anything shed-related from my avatar, username, signature, etc. But it won't change what I post and what I write, in short, it won't make me any more a less a part of the 'community'. I don't have a problem with anyone on this site - I realise that my posting habits in the past may have annoyed people and so I changed them once a solution was found. I haven't ever as far as I'm aware attacked anyone either personally or by association on NOOL. It's all a bit of fun - those people who post a lot in the shed are happy with how things have worked out. The major gripes of many users seem to have been answered. Can't we just leave it at that...

Seems to me like what we have got here now is a little clique of people who have got a bit out of control with their posting habits on NOOL, and whose only aim now is to post as much irrelevant and totally silly messages, totally forgetting what this site is and why they are on the site in the first place.

Ronald, you personally have run into the ground the old defence of "if you don't like the thread don't read it". Ordinarily people could do that but the problem was that 50% of the front page of BCD was garbage, it was overruning the place.

I don't dislike anyone in the Shed group, I think Mike's idea of confining it to one thread was cool but I think it's beggar's belief how certain Shed people couldn't see there was an issue before.

I sub sequentially locked all the threads, after several people complained.

I set up the SHED, so people could all post what they want on that thread. Nicos agreed with it

May I ask why you continue to make disparaging remarks about the people who post on that thread, as the rest of the forum is now freed up for people to post about whatever you want to ?

'Us and Them' does not stem from the shed, but attacks on it.
