President Bush is pushing an ammendment barring gay marriage.
Hey, Dubya, don't we have more pressing issues to address?
Ya know, like figuring out how to fix the mess we've created in Iraq and Afghanistan? Taking care of New Orleans, and all the other environmental messes we have? Making sure that hunger is eliminated in the United States. Quality medical care for all of our citizens.
As one comedian said, why not let gays get married? Then they can be as miserable as the rest of us
It seems just n attemt to firm up his base of support. His approval polls are what, 30%-ish? More than a few Republican friends of mine are just furious with him.
and an anti-gay marriage admendment? just another moving of the goal posts. Used to be "oh they are not like us" (Anita Bryant)
now that more than a few glbt couples want to settle down, raise children and be domestic, the fear that we will be just "like them" Sure be just as boring at the PTA....
I reccomend the book "The Committment" by Dan Savage where he and his longtime partner, who are raising a child together, debate whether or not to even get married.
