N.M.E. have special features this week on one of the greatest albums of all time , smiths - queen is dead.its to mark 20 years since its release. i do recall buying it on its release but 20 years !!!! how time fly's when your having fun :)

Not even The Smiths 2nd best album. Meat Is Murder and strangeways are far superior! 
Dont see the fuss over cemetry gates, or Vicar In a Tutu, Or Some Girls are Bigger than others.
Is it fuck! It only gets the praise it does due to 3 songs, Bigmouth, There Is A Light and the title track. The rest of it is, well, quite average.
With the exception of the Arctic Monkeys album, The Queen is Dead is quite possibly the most overrated album of all time. And thats coming from someone whose seen morrissey 21 times.

1/ queen is dead 2/ strangeways ( almost joint 1st really ) 3/ meat is murder 4/ hatful of hollow 5/ the smiths
i really love ' world wont listen ' but suppose thats even more in the compilation area than hatful

The Boy With The Thorn In His Side is one of my favourite Smiths songs. I think Girlfriend in a Coma is my favourite of all though.

My introduction to all things Manchester came through this album, I bought it secondhand during my time at USC and was hooked. I can say it changed my life, or at least my music-listening habits
That and the Grease soundtrack

Our Lorri is a huge Smiths/Mozza fan and when this first came out, she was just 12 years old so she didn't actually discover it until a good three years later when she was in the 5th form....anyway, it was her fave Smiths album of all time until the novelty of those aforementioned "lightweight" and completely disposable tracks "Vicar In A Tutu", "Frankly Mr Shankly" and "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" soon wore off. She tends to skip them now every time and instead focus on the far weightier and emotionally potent numbers like "There Is A Light", "I Know It's Over", "Never Had No One Ever", and "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" as well as the title track.
It seems "Hatful Of Hollow" remains her fave Smiths record of all time now anyway.
But what is starting to bore the arse off me is the way music publications are so obsessed with wanting to mark the 10th, 20th, 25th and 30th (or even 40th at this rate) anniversaries of albums that - in most peoples eyes - are just overrated anyway. Next year will be the 10th anniversary of "OK Computer" by Radiohead** and bloody hell - just wait until the hype machine gets going on that one: there'll be no escape for anyone frankly - every monthly magazine will bring out a special commemorative issue priced £7.99 going on about the making of this record. You mark my words, it's going to happen!

I enjoy TQiD, but it's not my favourite (that would be The Smiths, and, although it's a compilation and not an album, Louder Than Bombs). "I Know It's Over," "Never Had No-one Ever," "TBwtTiHS," and "There Is a Light" are pretty powerful though.
Almost 10 years of OK Computer? Time flies!
Favourite Smiths album The Queen Is Dead,closely followed by Meat Is Murder,featuring my alltime favourite That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore.Timeless!!!
