Heard that on the radio this morning... Not an avid fan of the newer series but from what I've seen Ms Piper is a good sidekick, so shame to risk that... I'm sure the Doc himefl will have something to say on the matter...

It's not the age of the girl, it's the fact he would bother shaggin aliens who are the age of schoolkids by his cultural standards.

He's supposed to be a reasonably safe character for children, introducing such overtly sexual tones just doesn't sit well with me. Mind you, neither does some of the writing this year....looks like they did it "star trek style".....found a bunch of stuff that was cut from eastenders, use a perl script to put the word "cyberman" in it at random and slap the title music on it. David Tennant is being let down by several of these stories, when the scripts rock, he's exceptionally good, and doesn't look like a car theif any more.

PS, he lies about his age...he's well over 1000 by any sensible reckoning....there have been 3 of him since he was 938 ("time and the Rani"). Jon pertwee also claimed to be over 3000 once. Not to mention a certain slip of the tongue McCoy made about "we, errrm they" when referring to rassilon and omega and all those old fart timelords who invented all their kit.

one of the best of the "dribbling spastic who's sole function is to look confused, scream and disobey the Dr causing all sort of trouble" Assistants (The Doctor does not HAVE sidekicks). But I far prefer those who TARDIS passengers who could string a scientific thought together.

And As I said, this business of the Doc getting all pervy over a playshool age child isreally distasteful.

She looked really nice in Saturday's episode, they scraped all the yellow off her and made her look like a person...bastards just did it to make me feel bad when she gets you know whatted this week.

BTW, "army of ghosts" was absolutely fabulous.

One of the Cult of Skaro refers to itelf as "Dalek Jast".

Earlier in the episode the Dr mentions Rose's ma's full name as

wonder if it's intentional.

Saturday's face-off between the Daleks and Cybermen was one of the funniest/smartest things I've seen on telly in aeons.

When they declared war on one another and the dalek asked how many the cybermen numbered.

Five million.

And then in return, how many the daleks had?

Flat as you like, the dalek just went four ... then went on to proclaim that a solitary dalek could still 'ave five million cybermen. Quality.

I think the Daleks are one of those creations that almost write themselves. They're just toe-rags, seems you had a few of them in security shirts the other night.

In addition to the "we'll take you with one dalek mate" speech,I rather liked "this is not a war, this is pest control".

Make the episode "dalek" the first Eccleston you watch. Must confess, as a sad old Whovian, their return with "doc....tor? THEEEEEE DOCTORRRRR????????????????? Exterminate!!!!" was one of those moments that leaves you thinking, "I can die happy now" :) The knowledge that a whole new generation of sprogs will be shitting themselves bout daleks just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I had a nightmare about Dr Who last night; a proper one, with Tom Baker in it and everything.

Tom Baker was the sidekick. He had massive tits and a big scarf. The Doctor himself was the really shit one with the stupid face that came after Baker. In my dream the Tom Baker girl said that she was sorry about Billie Piper as she knew how much she meant to me. I woke up feeling very sad.

David Tennent is pretty good as the Doctor I think now.I did'nt at first, but warmed to him and think he's pretty good now.

I am secretly happy she didn't get Exterminated in the end. She looked really pretty in the last couple of episodes with the fake tan and at least 8 of the coats of make up removed. Her "I killed the God of all Daleks" speech was kinda cool ( not that those four would have had a clue what she was on about, the emperror flipping out only after they left).

I objected to, and still do objetct to the BBC Marketting droids saying " we need 17.437% love interest, let's make this children's hero a child molester". And I object to "rose saves the day" being so much the order of the day in these 2 series.

And as for DT. I knew he'd be good, he's a major who fan. He has been let down by some awful scripts this series tho.... I mean,....."Rise of the cybermen" and "Age of steel" were just bits of old easenders scripts pasted together and with a few extras in cybermen suits in the background.

Been listening to a couple of BBC audiobooks of the new Doc, read by Tennant, he's really funny, switching between his own voice, the Dr's, Roses's, Mickey's Jackie's ( which is amazingly accurate) and all sorts of slimey nastinessess' voices.

PS. not had a Doctor nightmare since I was a wee-un, but I can still guarantee a War of the Worlds one at least once a year, usually retold around these parts, but often varying greatly in story detail. Oddly in the dreams I usually always know "it's OK the martians will start to rot in their machines soon".

I more or less ignored PD CB and SM too.

BUT having gone BACK to those episodes, I adore many of them, funny that. A prime example is "happiness patrol" which has bertie fucking basset in it, and I HATED it, on rewatching it recently I realised it was actually a brilliant story.

Sly McCoy has become one of my very fave Dr's based on things like that and the Big Finiah Audio plays.

Fave Doc was always Sylvester. Rememberance of the Daleks is a classic.

As for the theme....the current version is undoubtedly the finest since Deliah Derbyshire's original tape edit version vanish in 1981 to be replaced by that horrid digital racket. Actually it's deeply unfair that she ( or the radiophonic) is no longer credited as much of the current tune owes far more to Deliah's arranging than Ron Grainer's actually composition.
