Things You Must Do Before You Die

My number one is to see this live:

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and bassist Flea have joined with Bicycle Thief's Josh Klinghoffer to form a Joy Division cover band. The outfit has played one show already and might play one more show in March before the Chili Peppers hunker down in the studio to continue work on their next album.

Frusciante told LAUNCH about the passion both he and Flea share for the band that later became New Order: "Well, Joy Division has been my favorite band for the last, like, four years or so. Bernard Sumner from Joy Division--he's my favorite guitar player. I'm always just sitting in the back of the bus when we're on tour playing along to Joy Division records.

And Flea thinks they're, along with Led Zeppelin, he thinks they're the greatest chem...that has a perfect chemistry, you know? He puts them up next to Led Zeppelin, as far as that goes."

Frusciante added that Flea thinks Joy Division music is for all occasions: I heard him say that there's certain music that sounds good to him anytime. Bob Marley sounds good to him anytime, and Joy Division sounds good to him anytime."

3. See Neil Young and Metallica.
4. Be in a MINT band.

My things would be places to see. I haven't traveled enough.

3. Anywhere in the Middle East ( but sadly I dont see it being safe enough to visit in my life time)

Not to nitpick, but I believe the things everyone must do before dying include either:

1. cessation of brain activity
2. cessation of heart beat

I know one or both of those things will happen to me before I die.

Twins.

Must see New Order at least once in my life. It's one of things that in a perfect world I would've done plenty of times by now, but for some reason I'm always in the wrong place or the wrong time.

I missed them in 89 because I'd only found out who they were a few weeks later.

I missed them in 93 because I had travel plans to leave New York the day they were playing there.

I missed them in 2001 because they only played on the other coast and I couldn't yet afford to travel that far.

I missed them last year because their North American dates just happened to coincide with my business trip to China, which I couldn't change. I did buy WFTSC while I was in Hong Kong, though.

I'm actually considering flying down to Brazil if they actually end up playing there in November.

Other things...

• Successfully get my kid through college
• Travel Europe
• Get my private pilot's license
• Drive a Porsche
• Cut a really great track

Its amazing the amount of fans who don't even know that he has been a pile of ashes for awhile and that he was cremated. I think Ian was the sexiest man alive when he was alive but if other girls don't think so that's fine with me :D

Neat. Some nice scenery there. Reminds me a little of when I drove out to Muir woods and Muir beach in Marin county in California. Some of the most gorgeous road scenery I've ever seen there.

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla... not a sports car by any means, but the car is only a small part of the fun of driving. :)

I'll let you know if I go.

I've decided to defer all those cross-it-off-the-list type things till _after_ I die, when I'll have a lot more time on my hands. It really takes the pressure off.
