just coming to the end of a 5 year fixed. And they are trying to charge me a £750 "Arrangement" fee and a £250 "Product" fee to go over to either a 2 year fixed or a variable rate.Um , like ,they've made loads of interest out of me for the past 5 years and they still want to charge me for arranging a new deal.WTF? .So i'm looking for a change of lender that won't cost me a penny in arrangement and shit.

IS THAT IT? I charged a 5 GRAND broker fee (not including legals, valuation, completion etc) today simply because I could. Count yourself lucky.

I'm with them on a 5 year fixed, and they also try an chuck money at me like it's going out of fashion, but it will cost me £2500 to buy out onto another plus all that shite to arrange a new deal..Suppose it's worth having a shop about in your shoes Johnny, but all the lenders want loads of fees anyhow mate:\ohwell:

We had a similar headache with Abbey a year or so ago - switched to Nationwide, who charged us about 300 quid or so for switching but let us add that to the mortgage, so we weren't out of pocket, aside from having to pay Abbey a couple of hundred to get away from them... But I suspect we'll have the same hassle in a few years time when the current fixed term expires...

Switching mortgages can be a right pain in the backshire however, if you aren't bothered about a fixed term and go for the best variable rate it may not cost you a penny to switch. Try www.moneyfacts.co.uk or www.moneysupermarket.com/mortgages/ they give you a pretty good idea of what you are up against. Lots of lenders as Snorri says let you add the fees to the mortgage, however this does result in you paying far more in the long term.

Hope this helps

Thanks lucy

:)

Its just the way Northern Rock are trying to charge me a grand for the renewal process. So if i take a 2 year fixed they'll charge me again at the end of that for renewal. So that's a grand every 2 years added on to what i owe!!!:nonono:

I'd never pay the bloody thing off!

Will prob go to a vraibale at least then i dont have to review it every 2 years.Been to see a couple of financial advisors and looking at other lenders for one that wont charge me a penny to sort it all out.Northern Rock would allow me to tag the fee on to my mortgage but i don't even want to that.

Me and Julie took the camping stove down the side of Ullswater Lake, and set it up by the waterside. Pork And Apple Burgers on a chargrill.Lovely! Could have made a packet on the roadside, but our only potential customers were a van full of 18 Asians on their way back to Luton. And we had no Halal!:banghead:
