Another stupid poll: Marvel Movies

Ghost Rider, Spiderman and Fantastic 4 are all coming out next year. All the rest of these are only in the developmental stage, so who knows when or if they'll ever get released! I'm sure Wolverine will make it, though. So, which one has you trembling with anticipation?

I don't really care for comic book movies, but the Spiderman ones have been entertaining enough. Raimi's a good cheesy director, but he needs to throw in a lot more of the wacky camera angles and POV shots that made the Evil Dead movies so damn funny.

Voted for Ironman who is one of my favorite characters. As for the rest of the list, I would have to agree that there are only a few of the characters on there that would make a good movie.

Always been a Captian America guy. I like the superheros with no real superpowers. Although his sheild would always return to him somehow.

I voted for The Avengers (not the John Steed & Emma Peel variety!) though I'm looking forward to Wolverine as well.

I agree not all of these should be made. An Ant-Man movie!!??

I also wouldn't mind seeing a Silver Surfer movie, but if it's not on the horizon right now, I won't hold my breath.

Yeah it was nothing great but I'm hoping now that they've introduced the characters and can jump right into the action, the next one will be better.

Considering that Edgar Wright is attatched to direct and write Ant-Man, that's definately up there.

I'm more of a Spider-Man fan though, so I gotta go with Spidey 3.

I voted for Fantastic Four true believers. I didn't see the first one because it looked lame and apparently it was. I'm hoping they learned from their mistakes and get it right the second time around.

I wonder how they're going to explain Venom's origin in Spider-Man 3. I mean Spidey having gone to another planet is a big leap.

Spiderman 3 got my vote. I think the two before were good and hope this one will be also.

I think his movies are comedies or spoofs. I don't know if he can do a "serious" action movie. We shall see.

They'll have some other excuse I'm sure. Whenever the comic book story is too far out there, like Phoenix/Dark Phoenix, they come up with some terrestrial excuse, usually something more plausible than the comic version.
Same with Spidey & Hulk getting their powers. In the comics, it was all about radiation, as they were written in 1963. Now that we all know all radiation does is kill, they've switched their origins of power in the movies to genetic engineering.

I fully expected Spiderman 3 to run away with this, based on the success of the first two films. I'm glad to see Captain America and The Avengers getting several votes, though. I liked both Spiderman movies a lot, but I didn't like #2 as much as a lot of people. I like Spidey, but he was never my favorite anyway.

Is everyoneelse wondering the same thing I am: Will The Wasp make an appearance in the Ant-Man movie???

Not true at all! If it's a well done film, the characters are very human and have their own problems & histories. Spiderman is the superhero with every day flaws; the X-Men are despised because they look different yet fight for the humans who despise them; Batman & the Punisher have pasts which cause them to resort to violent vigilantism; Wolverine is a loner & a rebel; the Fantastic Four seemed to be in it for the money, at least in the movie; Captain America is a super-patriot who was part of a WWII top secret project to create a super soldier; Superman is just annoyingly goody good, and also the ultimate imigrant. OK, I think you get the idea by now. It just depends on how well they develop the characters & the plot. I've always thought that comic books were soap operas for guys (no sexism intended).

Sorry, it just ain't my bag. The ones i've seen before, Batman, Superman, Spiderman were all a bit samey.

Fantastic effects though, i'll give you that.

What about Thor? I loved that comic as a small kid.

Apparently the Silver Surfer will be in the next Fantastic Four. He'll be going around the world wreaking havoc, preparing Earth for its destruction. It will be interesting to see how his special effects turn out.

Holy shit, that sounds awesome! I used to like the Silver Surfer, maybe because he was a loner. Plus his powers kick ass.

They could not have done characters like Silver Surfer, Ice Man, Colossus 10 years ago. Thank God for computers!

I'd heard a rumor that Danzig was the original choice to play him. That would have been great for me, since he's actually the correct height (5 ft. 3 in.) of the cmoic book character. Upon further investigation, though, there was nothing to that rumor. He didn't have much acting experience and was too old for the part. So, you got lucky Bere by getting Hugh.

Well, I thought they did a pretty good job on Iceman and Colossus, though both were really only minor characters.

I agree they did a good job with those two characters, but the fact that the Silver Surfer normally rides his Surf Board everywhere, is what I worry about. If they have him walking a lot or if the CGI is done poorly when he is on the board, then it will be a major let down.

The CGI in the first Spider-man movie along with the fact that they shoved about 120 comicbook issues worth of storeline in it, made me like the 2nd movie a whole lot better then the first.

I thought the 2nd SPidey movie was a bit too much of a, for lack of a better term, chick flick. I felt it was a little slower than the first, actually. I duno, maybe my opinion will change the next time I see it. I've only seen it once whereas I've seen the first one two or three times.

It was well written and yet at the same time it was kinda cheesy (ex. Go get 'em tiger!) The first one had more of a dark side with Dafoe and Peter losing his uncle as a result of his own spite.

Well the "Go get 'em tiger!" is a line that is used in the comic book often. So seeing them put it in the movie is understandable even if it is a bit cheesy. Most of the comic book fans would be looking for that line and if I remember right cheered when it was said on screen.

Spiderman 2 made me cry, they can't top that...maybe an Incredible Hulk that is true to the source and just forget that the first movie ever happenned...

has anybody mentioned Adult Swim's Minoriteam... it is so cool with all it's 60s Marvel and Jack Kirby reverences... Black Galactus was so damn silly, thou i don't know if the kids understand and watch it... hell, i can hardly follow the cartoon myself

I'm stunned that they chose Spider-Woman over Storm. I believe Storm was the first black female superhero and she appeared before both Spider-Woman and Elektra. I know that Marvel is marketing Spider-Woman right now, which actually makes it more of a lame choice. Spider-Woman has always seemed like a character that was created to feed off the fame of Spider-Man.

I agree that Storm would be a better choice. Spider-Woman is just too much a feminization of Spiderman, like you say. It's like having Supergirl and Superdog (Krypto). No, I'm not comparing women to dogs, I just don't like the "spinoff superhero" idea. Batgirl, same deal. Anyway, Storm is a good character, in the comic, anyway, and would be a good choice. I have to say, though, I always had a thing for Scarlet Witch. I'd like to get her stamp, hubba hubba! Also, like you say, Storm is black. No black superheroes on that list. I'm also a bit surprised to see Sub-Mariner there. This deserves a new thread: Whom do you think should be on the 10 stamps?

Besides Spider-Woman, I believe the choices are pretty good. I actually don't mind the Barbara Gordon Batgirl character as much as Spider-Woman, or Batwoman for that matter. DC chose Supergirl for one of their stamps; I think I would have preferred Batgirl.

Scarlet Witch is a cool character but she hasn't always been good. Neither has Elektra for that matter but she is more famous.

Don't get me wrong, Batgirl on the 60's TV show was hot. Batwoman is a bit much, though I have to admit I'm not too familiar with her in the comics, I don't really know her origins or anything. When I was collecting Batman he was either solo or with one of the Robins, no Batwoman or Batgirl around.

That's a pretty classic list. All were on the Superfriends cartoon except Plastic Man, who had his own lighthearted cartoon, and Supergirl. I agree, I much prefer Marvel's list. More of an edge to the characters in general, except of course Batman.
