... on flu remedies? I'm full of the flu, aching, feverish, sore throat, etc. I've been to the Chemist this morning and spent £14 on remedies.

So far this morning i've had 2 x extra strength paracetamols, 2 x Lemsips, 1 x spoonful of Cough Medicine, 5 x Strepsils (well I like them, they're like sweets) and I've sprayed my throat with one of them Godawful sprays.

I'm delirious

can't stand the Lemsips.

Beechams Powders seem to work better for me.

Snorted, not drank.

 I'll try that.

I hate Lemsips and Beechams but needs must.

You ought to be careful (seriously); Lemsips contain paracetamol as well. Fresh lemon juice with caribbean honey and hot water is better than Lemsip and you can still take the paracetamol. (Of course, if you have no lemons to hand, scotch, sugar & hot water is an alternative).

Go to bed and sweat it out!

You can easily overdose on paracetemol. Tragically, there are no short-term effects but you can easily get organ damage from taking too much. Wino's right, you don't want to mix paracetemol with anything else that contains it.

Whenever Littleinoil is ill, the doctors advise alternating between Calpol (which has paracetemol in it) and Nurophen. This gives constant relief, but allows time for each drug to clear your system.

The best remedy for a cold is to stay in bed and masturbate as much as you can.

Actually, I'm not sure if it helps the cold, but if you've got a day off work, why not spend it wisely?

EDIT: I jsut carnt spel

Thanks for your good advice everybody, especially Col.

Maya my leg is being amputated on Thursday. At least i'll be able to steal shoes from outside shoe shops now, and on the plus side, Paul McCartney wants my number :thumb:

Can I have your leg?

I want to gollow it out and make an umbarella stand out of it.

You could get a glass leg filled with beer.

you could always try scotch, vodka or rum. that seems to do the trick every time I get a sore throat.

yes it is easy to overdose on paracetamol or aspirin. used in high does they will cause liver or kidney damage.

Don't take more than 800 mg per 8 hours. That's the max before you start getting liver damage.

I've just realised - did Missy mean this to be a poll?

The cool thing about your liver is that if you are kind to it, unlike many other organs, it can self-repair. Trust me, I'd be dead if the damage was cumulative.

The uncool thing, as has already been mentioned, is that there are no instant symptoms. I remember seeing a fly ont wall documentary once......this geezer necked like 50 paracetamol to kill himself. He woke up in hossy, and was all glad it "hadn't worked", full of love of life....until the doctor told him he had exactly 3 days to live. He turned yellow and died right on cue.

I must confess I've gone over the safe dose a few times in throes of agony (before the doc gave me trammadol), but always took it easy thereafter to give my inerds a chance to heal.....or I'd be toast.

I actually checked safe doses online, strangely, while the dosage on a box of paracetamol is the exact deadly dose, Ibuprofen can actually be necked in twice the stated quantity

I don't know how much is fatal or harmful, but I don't think people should be overdosing on any kind of medicine.

Well, take it from me, if you are in pain, and taking the safe dose LEAVES you in pain, you gotta take more. The way I see it is this, side effects must by definition be milder than the main effect, or they would not be called SIDE effects. Therefore, if the MAIN effect has not happened nor have the side effects. Before my Dr gave me Trammadol, I was, on some days, necking almost TWICE the safe dose of paracetamol, which, should really have killed me, but I always tried to flush my system out when the worst of the pain passed. I've even overdone it on the Trammadol a few times, on the days when even getting off my arse and going to the toilet was like a 100 mile trek in agony. Fortunately, being an opoid ( which, I believe denotes a man made chemical as opposed to an opiate which would be naturally derrived.....is there a molecular chemist in the house?), it's not all that toxic and the main effect was to render me off-my-baps and not a lot of use for anything.....which is bloody funny now that I'm back at work..."Steve....STEVE!!!! are you fucking here or what nobhead"
