alright, so if anyone remembers, I pissed and moaned about the line up...
so today was the first day, and I'm not really all that fussed about it, but as we are walking in, there is a band playing on one of the stages, and they were actually pretty damn good...called The Dears, and we will be looking some more of there stuff up after the weekend is over....
Next up, only band I was really looking forward to today, Deadboy & the Elephantmen...they remind me a bit of White Stripes, guy up front playing guitar, lass on the drums, but at least she had big...well, she had big things that looked like they were about to pop out of her shirt...and the music was quite nice, it's a CD I'll be picking up on Monday as well...
so after a bit of rocking out, we make it to a band called Stars, working out of Montreal...little more laid back, but excellent sound to them...the entire time we were listening to them, they reminded me of someone, but I could NEVER put my freaking finger on just who that was...I'll be checking them out after the weekend as well...actually, I just thought of it, they reminded me of Belly...
next up was Gnarls Barkley...I only knew of one song, Crazy, so once again, I'm expecting absolutely NOTHING, but damn if he doesn't put on a fine show...another one we will be looking at after the weekend is over!!
Thievery Corporation was up next, and once again, I was freaking blown away...not quite sure how to describe this one...they had a scitar, DJs, dancers, bongos...but whatever the combination was, it worked quite well...
Final act of the day, Van Morrison. What the hell is the deal with this guy? He doesn't suck, but why the hell did everyone have to stick around to the bitter end for this guy? I asked Stephanie if we could leave, but she wouldn't give in. So we ended up closing the show down...and it ended up taking about 2.5 hours to get home afterwards...normally, it's 30 minute drive...so I was just a wee bit pissed off when we finally got home...but we did discover some fine new music today, so I guess it was worth it...
anyways, I guess I'll give you kids another report tomorrow...really only looking forward to Massive Attack, but we'll see what surprises pop up later today...
