This is an archived legacy thread. Replies are closed, but the discussion is preserved.

After reading your responses to what I have posted in the N-Word,the Quebec/French Canadian threads, and seeing your new avatar pic, I'm concerned about how your children, if not your family, would take this sort of thing.

If what you said about using the J-word to your wife is true, I suggest that you stop using the word immediately. This sort of language is not what your kids should hear or at least experience through some other means. Actions do speak louder than words. I have experienced some of this conduct in my childhood through my father. Trust me, it was not pretty.

No, Chris. A fight is not necessary. EdelBrock must know that what he's doing is a wrong example to set for his kids (who are biracial, like me).

Burt, wouldn't you be alarmed if someone says that he uses the J-word or other racial remark to his wife?

No.. I just scrolled and cant find this 'J' word you are talking about it. I've spent five minutes thinking of words that might relate to you and I've come up with: Jap, Ju-Jitsu, Judo, Japs-eyes.

Is it any of those?

Burt, don't play dumb with me. You know what I'm talking about, unless if you're too drunk to notice.

End of discussion. Now, I really want EB to see this thread.

I havent got a clue.. is it any of those words?

I'm guessing you might be bizarrely offended by the use of the word 'Jap', which of course is the shortened form of Japanese, and not generally used in offensive terms.

The word 'Paki' is short for Pakistani, and IS often used in offensive terms, but generally accepted in Pakistan as a shortening of the term 'Pakistani'.

We call people from the USA, 'Yanks' quite often here, and people from Great Britain are frequently called 'Brits'. Scottish people are called 'Scots'

Unless you are thinking of another 'J' word, what the fuck is your point?

Poor Cozzie doesn't understand using nasty words in humour.

Let's see if we can teach her.

Perhaps if you and I started yelling Fenian and Jaffa at each other, she'd get it?

Her objection to EB usuing these words to his Mrs seems to come down to a belief that somehow he dislikes his Mrs and thinks her inferior. I very much doubt this is the case.

Any wonder that Brit rhymes with fuckwit?

In the U.S., the so-called j-word is as racially charged an epithet as the so-called N-word. It doesn't matter what it means on your little island; here it's racist. Not that the Brits, who practically invented racism, would get that there's a larger world out there than there little island...

It's called racial integration Comrade, NOT racism. We seem to be quite good at it. USA not so good probably, particularly re: the world right now.

As for shortening descriptive names for the countries one comes from, i don't see your point at all. If 'Jap' has become offensive its cos you're silly media has made it offensive. Fucking pathetic really, as are your weak and constantly predictable defences of cozzie continue to be. Worldwide chatrooms are generally tolerant things, they HAVE to be; what EdelBrock says to his Japanese wife is really something that cozzie or yourself should not be bothered about.Idiots!

Fucking politically correct yanks

Fuckwit. It wasn't a word made offensive by the media; it was a word made by offensive by west coast racists when they had their anti-asian laws in full effect.

Fucking drunken brit arsehole.

Sorry, that was uncalled for; Brit was just redundant.

I'm just cracking open my second beer now  Hows the grooming coming along?.. You taken her some toffees yet? Shown her your stamp collection? Puppies?

The hilarious thing is, the rest of the world probably calls Japanese 'Japs' too, like Australians 'Ozzies', Argentinians 'Argies' etc, list is massive, I'm sure. You refer to 'Brits' as if we speak for ourselves on this one; whereas i think its your own country that seems to developed this bizarre anti-'Jap' thing.

Well, guess I'm joining in on this a little late.

Cozzie, after being married for over 8 years it's hard to get offended by each other. You have to understand it's a joke in my household on which place, the US or Japan, makes the best stuff (cars, food, music, etc.). So it is a game we jokingly play. These things are never said when I'm upset.

My kids know right from wrong, and I don't go off on racial slurs with them.

Personally I find racial slurs idiotic. They only mean something if the LISTENER adds some sort of meaning to them.

Why are you "standing up to me" anyways? Have I been bullying you? Sounds like you have some emotional baggage attached to this....I'm a bit confused as this seems to be coming out of left field?

Again a weak defence, but the lure of fresh punani must still be strong :evil4: Admirable perhaps, foolhardy definitely.

If Cozzie can ever come out with a decent post I wont attack it. Unfortunately these things are such a rarity these days.

Cozzie is like a forum robot, she will post for the sake of it, even if she knows nothing about the subject. In fact, if she knows nothing about the subject she will post to tell us all this, Another example: Any wedding/birthday/anniversary thread, Cozzie will put up a picture of a cake guaranteed, like clockwork, even if she has never spoken to the person(s) involved. Check such threads on the screen if you need proof.

And hell, even the Pope jumped in at one point

I'd start a 'Is Cozzie annoying?' Poll, but:

a) I'm sure its been done before b) it will give her a licence to post some boring attention speaking bollocks

EdelBrock:

I don't know if I can fully believe your reasoning, but it's a good thing that you put your two cents in on this matter.

There was emotional baggage involved when I posted this and that caused some concern since I can understand the military and multicultural lifestyle. From the responses that you posted in previous threads, they raised a red flag.

To give you a general idea, my father was also a Marine who married an Okinawan. When we moved to the States, he frequently used the word "Jap" to constantly demean me since I couldn't write sentences in correct English (and I dreaded of having spelling homework concerning writing sentences when I was in elementary school). In the end, I stood up to Dad, but he refused to apologize and take full responsibility for his treatment of both my mother and me. He told me that he yelled at me for my own good.

It could be possible that it's true that you use the word "Jap" in the context you've stated. However, my experience with the word, aside from historical context as Comrade stated, was excruciating because of the way my father treated me.

I'm sorry for the misunderstandings that have resulted in this matter.

You dont annoy me, not personally on your own. You can still be intelligent and incisive when you think for yourself. Unfortunately, when you decide to 'defend the indefensible' you look like a complete idiot. Overall, I find it occasionally amusing, but ultimately boring. I'm sure i speak for a vast majority of NOOLers too.

LOL... constantly amused by this drunk tag. Sounds like a 'I cant think of anything else to insult him with' tag. Funny I can still type when the screen jumps so wildly.

As for not being my forum; no its not, at all. Obviously. However, I keep personal stuff to emails or messengers. If Cozzie would do the same then this place would be rid of a lot of human generated SPAM. Like this fucktard generated thread pour example.

I rest my case, M'lud.

Just because you use IM and email doesn't mean everyone is going to do the same thing you're doing, Burt...

That's how the misunderstanding of this thread got started, when one person assumes that it's the same for all other situations...

I noticed my mistake. Did you notice your own yet?

The "drunk" tag is about all the people who post about how drunk they are, basically every day of the week, and then use the word "boring" to describe somebody else.

Well, I find all of the constant self-referencing "I'm drunk" and "I'm such a libertine" posts to be boring. Dead fucking boring. (Except Nick Robinson, he's hilarious when he's drunk.). Otherwise, dead fucking boring. Maybe if they weren't so common they'd be amusing. But they are common, and boring. And I haven't even touched on the "good morning all" posts.

But I don't hound those who choose to make those posts, and point out how utterly boring those posts are to me. Unless they're hounding somebody else for being "boring."

If you had any integrity, Burt, you'd police all of the posts here for content; barring that, you'd leave Cozzie alone. Time to hang the jihad up, Burt.

Not on here I havent. But I make mistakes.. Yes I'm human. And if someone points it out, then I'll own up to it, rather than let it drag on for forty odd posts.

You wanna enlighten us all?
