My daughter witnessed an awful attack a couple of months ago, and without going into the finer details, the Police contacted her to make a statement. We went off to the Station, she gave a very detailed statement then last week, they called and asked her to look at some photos. She picked one lad out. It was more than apparent from the DS that she had picked out the right 'lad'. So then yesterday, she was asked to go to an id 'parade'; so I went with her and it was all very carefully done (in fact, I have to take my hat off to the Police); so she again picks out a lad (she was really worried she wouldn't be able to); and that was that. An independant Inspector and this 'lad's' solicitor were present.
So, today, we had a call from the WDC to tell us that after we had left, he was formally charged and he was hauled off the magistrates court, who gave him bail. Not only was this a complete kick in the teeth for this poor lad who got beaten up, but for my daughter also - and indeed the Police. Then the WDC went on to tell me that this 'lad' was already on bail for robbery and was tagged! She also told me that he was in fact at court for another robbery along with this one with gbh! I just don't believe this happens. The Police tell me it happens all the time. WTF?????? And let's see, what was his condition of bail????? - that he doesn't travel on a bus! ![]()
So this poor lad who is scared to death to come out of his house, and my daughter, are obviously scared to death of retribution, because now, not only is the little shit out on the street, but he now knows their names. ![]()
Possible reasons for this lenient behaviour?????? It's Christmas, he's had a difficult upbringing and locking him up away from his family over the christmas period will not be of any benefit to him. ![]()
