About 4 years ago myself and another member of this board started getting together and playing covers of New Order & other similar stuff for fun. After playing off and on during that time, we've decided to try to step it up and start doing some gigs. We have a bass player, and now we need a drummer...

We play stuff by New Order, the Cure, Sublime, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, the Smiths, Oasis, and so on... we're trying to expand our repertoire of songs, so we're pretty open to trying out other stuff, especially stuff by newer bands...

We try to jam about once every other week, with everyone trying to learn songs on their own between jams. We're hoping to start playing out in the next couple months or so.

If you're in the Orange County, CA area and are interested in playing, send me an e-mail at fac429@hotmail.com.

Thanks!

this is going to sound mean, but aren't there enough shit bands coming from that part of california.i don't believe anything good comes out of that state let alone texas, just from what i've experienced. maybe thats being cynical... in fact, just move to a country town and leave your origins a mystery. americans love a mystery-why is the country falling apart and who are all these people coming over here? why is that building collapsing? why does our president not give a shit about this country or its people? etc.....

Perhaps it wasn't clear from my original post, but the band we're starting is a cover band. And off the top of my head I can't think of any California bands we're covering (oh, one- Sublime).

And while there are very few prominent California bands that I would defend (Lord knows we have a lot of hair metal and pop punk to answer for), I think there are some good southern California bands like Mellowdrone and Rilo Kiley, and good ones over the years like the aforementioned Sublime, the Dead Kennedys, Uberzone, and the Descendents.

As for the rest of your post, I'm not sure what buildings falling down have to do with my cover band. Or the president not caring. By the way, where was that president from again? Talk about shit coming out of one's state...
