HP Sauce - good choice, would that be from a glass or plastic bottle ?

all we can get is glass bottles.

Grill 4 slices SMOKED bacon, cooked slowly to let the fat go crispy add to two fresh rolls, dolop or two of Heinz Red from a plastic squirty bottle.

Voila.

Beer tastes better out of a glass, prefer HP & Heinz from a squirty bottle ;)

12 pieces is a big wad of bacon! And was that in just two normal slices of white? or a bap of some variety. You'd need some good bread for that, i can see it falling apart!

Suppose they could have been tiny little peices of bacon from a really little pig?

Generally more of a traditional BLT kinda guy (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato), which mayo. Sometimes toasted bread, if I'm feeling "crazy" :D

haha it's the only time i've done it/will ever do it, don't worry

mainly cos my mum got stressed at the resulting lack of bacon

Definitely a well done crispy bacon man here.:thumb:

 The Reuben or NewYork- style sandwich is very popular in Lunch Delis. Toasted sourdough piled 2inch high w/ lean roast or corned beef, some good mustard and always served with a piping hot clear scotch broth for dunking.

In the bacon sandwich. No Bacon for starters guess it doesn't count and is cheating the question. Tomatoes, romaine, 1/2 an avocado, pinch rocksea salt maybe, cracked pepper + always good mustard. Never had any complaints.

You're confusing two different sandwiches here. One is a Reuben, the other is a French Dip, both are hot sandwiches.

The Reuben is corned beef, sauerkraut, and melted swiss cheese on rye with mayonnaise.

The French dip is roast beef on a sourdough roll, and is dipped in jus.

For me, a BLT. Veggie, natch.

Veggie bacon and fresh tomato slices in a bed of lettuce, with mayo on toasted sourdough slices. :food:

Cheevers! The Comrade reveals a previously hidden knowledge of sandwich names!

I thought veggie bacon was a myth invented by people to take the piss out of vegetarians. Do people really eat it? What's it like? What's it made from?

Veggie bacon contains egg whites, soy oil, soy protein, cornstarch, and wheat gluten. It tastes just like bacon-- at least, what we Yanks call bacon-- although bacon is fatty, and veggie bacon isn't.

Veggie bacon is a good bacon substitute for vegetarians, and for people who are watching their cholesterol intake, but might be too salty for those with hypertension.

Ah, I'd forgotten about that.

American bacon is shit anyway. It wouldn't be hard to make a perfect veggie version of that.

Why is American bacon so lousy? Surely it's made from the same ingredients (ie pig)?

I've half considered going veggie. But then I see products like that and realise how much I love meat

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!

A real Reuben will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, have fucking mayonnaise on it...that would just be a tragedy...

I didn't want to open up a can of worms by saying "Russian" or "Thousand Island" dressing...

Right. La di da and there you go. En jus ou du boullion also works. Friend worked at a Deli.. the Hot sandwiches ingred.s varied as to what was available. Both were top choices through the colder temps. Side of clear soup at the side was the standard request. Veggie bacon. eww no thanks.

Bacon? Only best back though.......none of this streaky nonsense. In fact, I bought a pack of bacon for Christmas (couldnt afford a turkey this year) and whilst cleaning the fridge today, discovered it was still there. Not exactly a household full of Bacon lovers then! (The Christmas pudding was still there too.................)

very agreed. Little place for mayo except plain w/ tomatoes and torn basil. Even then avocado, bit of 1/2' shred spinach is miles ahead. Where are the thin sliced Red or sweet onions. Most always are paired w/ Bacon, tomato, the garlic roast beef.

Well I learned something today! That's bothered me for a while.

But now something else bothers me: What happens to all the pig's backs in America and all the British bellies?

'People like Kath'???????? What's that supposed to mean?

On second thoughts, don't answer that.

No?

Today I learned that those people with the twin tumors sticking out of their chests actually have different sexual organs. Apparently it's something called a pergyna.
