They have burek we have gibanica
I prefer burek though
Cheesy! ![]()
But I had burek in Serbia, and not gibanica!
If everybody would kindly send me £40, I could afford to go back...to conduct research into Serbian cuisine, of course.

As Jay Leno once asked, "Just how much wiz is in this cheese"?

Hoagies, cheesesteaks (although I prefer the vegetarian kind with provelone cheese, not cheez wiz), Tasty Kakes, Philly-style pizza, and soft pretzels are all part of the Philly cuisine.

Johnny wrote: Anybody a fan of Falafel? Yummy
I forgot about falafel. Here, it's usually served at pizza places. But, it's a bit different from that picture. Usually, here, the pita bread is fried and wrapped around the falafel balls and filled with humus, hot sauce, and yogurt sauce.

Well, we have falafel pretty much as in the photo here.

It's like New York style pizza but thinner and the slices are bigger. And it does have sauce.

Sounds like Serbian pizza.
I went into some pizza place and they gave me a pizza with no sauce, and a yellow plastic mustard bottle on the side. Well, I thought, I'm not putting mustard on my pizza. So I ate the pizza as it was served. Next time I go there, same thing, they serve a pizza with the yellow plastic mustard bottle. Well, I figure, I am in Serbia, so I should at least try the local customs. So I prepare myself mentally-- "maybe mustard on a cheese pizza won't be so bad"-- and squeeze the mustard bottle so I can have "Serbian pizza."
It was pizza sauce. They had served the pizza with the sauce-- which they call "ketsup," by the way-- on the side, in a yellow plastic mustard bottle.
Later, I go to another place, kind of like a lunch deli, and order a slice of pizza. They ask me if I want "ketsup" with it. I say yes. They hand me my slice of pizza. It has peas on it. I brace myself-- "maybe it's not so bad." I take a bite. The "ketsup" is, in fact, ketchup.
Ketchup and peas pizza. :dead:
