NOOL Women

This is an archived legacy thread. Replies are closed, but the discussion is preserved.

After a year of being on this board I noticed that 80% of the NOOL women either need to prove that:

They are intellectually superior, but actually spurt off stuff they just heard from thier college professors and tend to be extremely prudish

-or-

They are at their peak of sexual prowness (or something) and have to post something "erotic" for every post. Are they not getting any at home? And why not if they are this horny?

What's up with this?

I would say only about 30% do either.

You're probably right when considering the long termers, but I'm including the new ones that come in here as well in the last year.. ..or at least that 30% saturate threads with thier posts so as to seem at a higher percentage?

some of it is quite entertaining. some is just personal opinion and uniformed crap or even borders on spamming (before anybody says anything, "those in glass houses....")

I think you need to draw a distinction.

BTW the fellas do it as well.

It isn't a dig at this thread starter. Although I have had a few disagreements with him from time to time, they have always been good discussions.

When you post about wanting to do something sexual to Barney, it classifies as decidedly UN-erotic.

Er, surely this is just 'NOOL' in general?

No need to qualify anything with an additional 'women' in the title.

Just for the hell of it, I'm adding my American two cents.

For one, I'm intelligent. Naturally. [Which shows that I don't fall under the 80% radar in that manner.] Sure I can end up lacking some sort of sufficient wording, but I can speak my mind, and speak it well, without fighting a damn dictionary or thesaurus. Or a college textbook, or a professor, or something to that extent, for that matter.

And two, being erotic has its time and place. Here is a place that does NOT fall in that catagory in my humble opinion. Sure I'll get a laugh at some of the things being said by others here but, rarely does something erotic pass through my common mind whenever New Order is concerned. [Again, proof that I don't fall in that 80% radar.]

I hope I have explained myself well. In the meantime, back to watching that Joy Division/Missy Elliot 'Love Will Freak Us' video for, oh, the 100th time...? :D

1] I never gave myself that nickname. Thankfully neither did my parents. My coworkers gave me that nickname, and it's stuck. Fortunately, it matches my usually hyper personality [as in, given enough chocolate and Coca-Cola, I probably could take over the world], as well as my surprisingly nice nature despite my mostly gothic appearance.

2] Nope, not a hippy. Sorry. And I wouldn't want to be one, either. So get over it. It'll spare me the headache in the end.

3] Oh and, sorry to confuse the male side of the species. But then again, I never said I wasn't gonna be very comprehendable, right?

I just had a look at your myspace site HERE and I'm a bit confused. Why are all your friends called 'Starknight (insert name)? You sure it isnt some bizarre hippy myspace commune? Are you David Koresh?

Alright Burt, you've got me pullin' out the arsenal to respond to your  form of common sense.

*ahem*

Your words, nothing more than mere stones that you fling at me with a sling made of close-mindedness and strings of anything short of being polite--

your words can't do any harm to this little missy. You cry, you scream, you bitch and moan, and what little does that do to me other than the little good it does to you by boosting your supposed ego?

Just because I bear the wings of an Angel of Barney, and just because I gush about my supposed 'childhood crush', that is no way to judge a New Order fan. Between 'No Love Lost' and 'Love Vigilantes', 'Transmission' and 'Crystal', 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call', the there-and-then and the here-and-now, there stands the soundtrack to my life, the music that my common existence, however strange or normal it may be, lives, breathes, thrives and dies to. Words that could cause me to laugh until there's no tomorrow, melodies that could cause me to cry until my energy's all spent. Unlike every other band I hear, there's something about this Mancurian band that, somehow, I can't find in other bands.

I'd say more but, perhaps I've said enough-- maybe more than I had humbly intended.

So, I'm going to close this whimsical little poem with the two best lines to quote when someone decides to be a bit of a punk in the face of one...

'You've caught me at a bad time, So why don't you piss off?'

:thumb: Burt, you inspired me to write a poem! How thoughtful.

ETA: Correction. KATH. :banghead: God I can be so offside this late in the day. Sheesh...

Good Lord almighty, have you any decency to stop questioning someone half to death?? :nonono:

The whole story behind the 'StarKnight' thing [and I can't believe I'm actually explaining this, so be extra-thankful that I'm patient enough to do this!!] started back in high school, when a friend of mine nicknamed me 'StarKnight' for two reasons--

1] when I was younger I always enjoyed looking at the stars, and I still do, except on cloudly nights of course [the 'star' part of it] and 2] I had [and still have] a tendency of being very loyal to my friends, like a knight [hence the 'knight' part of it].

After a while some of my friends decided to start calling themselves 'StarKnights' and bring up codenames and nicknames and stuff. Mine, at least back in high school, was Setsuna [after, oddly, my favorite Sailor Moon character].

Then I graduated, and moved away. Oh, and finally got a MySpace years later [or almost two years ago, to be exact].

One of my friends then suggested I bring back the old 'StarKnight' term, nowadays used for the few small strong handful of people who are very good friends of mine and/or have been a huge influence on my life. Like my favorite band.

And, David Koresh scares the sh*t out of me. Thank God I don't know him. :brow: Then again, he's dead anyway, I think.

Oh and, at least at MY McD's, in my end of the world, we don't have the sour cream and chive dips. Honestly, I thought you only find those in a Wendy's, or at least in a sour cream and chives baked potato there.

ETA: *sigh* Geez...

Nope, it was actually mostly due to the film. I kinda thought that dude was a bit off the deep end anyhow for that. That and, because of the film, it was Corporate's decision to 'phase out' the Supersize option.

Unfortunately, to this day I still get customers requesting 'Can you Supersize that for me please?' :nonono: My God, what did I do to deserve that?

And Burt, NO I DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT ONE!!! :nono:

exactly.

There's a few rabbit stewers round here, but they are definitely the vast minority. Still can't fathom Sunshine being tagged as a nutter, I've seen plenty of NO related comment from here....and not PSQ loony-questions either (though I can hardly criticise PSQ for that, I lie awake at night wondering about all sorts of pointless things).

Having said that........

Have you ever noticed that if you ask **MOST** girls about any band or movie....you get an answer in the form...."I'd $CARNAL_ACT, that $BANDMEMBER/$CHARACTER"..... never an answer about plot, script, photography, direction,, musica; avlues, any of that.....just "he'd get it". Even my beloved Leanne, who is a big Green Day fan.....I found some gigs of theirs while looking for NO on PLG or DaD, and asked her if she wanted them...."Only videos, please" mucky girl.

Of course maybe I just notice it in Girls cos they are "the other". Maybe most blokes are the same, and cos I don't work that way, I don't accept that as a fact to base premises on.

dunno where the original post went (deleted?) but that shit about barney's angels living in a fantasy world and going out to stalk/kidnap barney is just bullshit. I don't know who came up with that and why people keep repeating it:shrug: Anyway, it's getting old. *sigh*

Uh, back on topic?

Yeah, women do tend to focus more on the person, I think you're right about that. For me it's both really: I love the music, I also get a bit curious about the people who made it. Being fan of this band means I have loads of torrents and remixes and demos and solo projects.. (and I don't know many women who collect those things like me) but also a couple of nice books and interviews :)

funny, if you replace "people" with "machines", that's exactly how it is for me. I LOVE learning how this or that was done, or about the quirks and foibles of such and such a flummy or doodad.

***Technically a synth or simmilar is not a machine as it does not convert one form of energy to another....electric in, electric out. Drums and guitars ARE machines, kinetic energy to sound. It's a stupid fact, but totally worth knowing the next time you have to talk to a rock luddite or listen to a drummer raving about "f*ing machines"

Or are you frightened?

Sorry, gone to the field for a couple days...not able to get to computer while out there.

But, I wasn't trying to name names as it tends to loose the focus of the trend i was noticing. It will turn into "I don't do that that much" and then I have to pull out individual scenerios and trying to back them that honestly I don't have the time for. But for its funny how the girls that posted on this thread (save one newbie) have no affiliation with the original post.

Like I mentioned earlier in response to Ron, my original percentage maybe way off, as some of these posters seem to flood the threads with crap.

And come on, everyone knows who the posters are that I'm refering to....just trying to get a good scuffle going ain't ya.....you instigator, you!:nono:

He had to learn it sometime
