Ron,you said you had Ubuntu Linux to try out didn't you. I think you may want to see this.......

First bit is DOS-Vista, and then it becomes ubuntu.

I have this running on my desktop and laptop (took about 15 mins to do, I pasted the commands even  ). on the desktop it's perfect, and even I have not managed to crash it yet. The only thing it can't do (ANCIENT GE-FOrce mx440 just isn't up to it....but I just bought a WEAPON of a card so we'll see) is playing large window movies while flipping and rotating and shit. The laptop can't really hack it, it's got a 1.6GHz Celeron, which is a bit limp TBH, and NO 3d acceleration hardware whatsoever....still it's usable.

And if one happens to own a touchscreen...... .....

That looks really good. I'm thinking of wiping my old HD and then using that for Linux. Not that I trust that thing in any way. I'm feeling far to fluish to attempt that at the moment anyway.

I'm told that ubuntu is Linux for dummies, so that should suit me just fine. :D

I certainly won't get Vista in it's current format, so I'll have to put off getting a laptop for a little while. One of those nice new PDAs should do the trick until them.

I know once I've installed Linux once I'll feel more confident doing it again. I just don't want to bugger up a HD too much by reformatting it.
