ExACTly! He'll grow out of it by 25 (or his da will strangle him I'd wager). Besides bassists and drummers can learn important musical skills from metal. Guitarists just learn to fucking annoy people in ever more widdly, whiney and cat strangly ways.

I always envy the skinbasher, he probably the only bugger on OR in front of the stage who isn't getting their ears drilled in a rock band.

Used to play in a strange bunch called "Hed Doktor and the Majik Konvention", we played Gong, Crimson, Daevid Allen, Floyd (OK interstellar overdrive, for about an hour with each of us taking it in turns to yell a style to change into..."right.....Reggae....OK...Happy Hardcore", tho we kept it sane(r) live), all, either far heavier, or far groovier than the originals, and a few of our own. But the guitfish player had an SG and a fuckin 150W ORANGE STACK![1]...AND the drummer was the loudest fucker imaginable, and the sort who played louder if asked to tone down and the sort who, if handed brushes, just broke them and handed them back. We started as a 3 piece in a tiny (as in, there was room for kit, amps, six feet and a drummers arse and sod all else) room with concrete walls, so ALL that could be hear was guitar and cymbals. By the time other people had joing (we ended up with 12 I think), I was playing so loud and so hard to keep up with the guit and drums psycho levels, that I dunno any of the addons (many of whom were normal) coped at all. Bastard guiarist STILL kept telling me to turn down. LOL

Sorry got lost, I think the point was....sit behind a kit, it nicely drowns out the guitar, but not the bass. Just not sure why I MADE that point is all.

[1] AND an EH Big Muff, AND an HH 100W combo which he chained through to access it's springverb, mainly so he could lift the amp 3 inches, drop it and make insance scifi explosion noises. You can imagine the noise. But 2 mins later he'd be playing gentle glissando with a wah, volume and Zanussi wassher dr....Sorry, I mean WEM copycat.

BUT, mark my words...you wont be listening to metalica in 10 years. Neil Young you'll keep, PJ, hmmmm 50/50.

It's true that is

Anyway, like I said, perfectly healthy and very useful to your budding bassgodhoodness.

Ste, acknowledged or not can't fight that PJam is Style and has the Hardworking Class. Might just be one of the Best things out of the 90s. Ten Vitology even now. Master Bates' JH. Did you get to see the Band this last time through there. Also the Pumpkins no.

OK, I am now officially both impressed and jealous. Still can't manage past where it goes into double time.
