Took in my second viewing of the Martian's ensemble last night, at the wonderfully-named Marr's Bar in Worcester.

After admirable support from Silicon Baby and Bring On The Freaks, both of whom turned out powerful punky sets that owed a lot to Green Day (the guitarist of the first lot had never even heard of Husker Du !!), it was time for John Robb's merry band of brothers to convince the rather sparce local crowd that they should believe in the power of rock and roll. A few seemed to, though it took a certain F.West to take the Gold Blade challenge and become the night's only stage diver. At my age, I ask you. With a set slightly truncated from the triumphant night at the Garage, the Blade still showed awesome power despite the absence of Brother Johnny. John Robb continues to defy the ageing process, being a lot more energetic at 41 than many people half his age. Despite the disappointing crowd of around 50, the band seemed to enjoy themselves, giving it 100% as always. A certain Martian trashed his kit at the end, and then had to put it back together to do the encore ! Nice one Marty :)

All in all a very enjoyable evening's getting very hot and sweaty trying to show these teenage wannabe punks what it's all about. Had a good chat with the Martian and later with John Robb, and left the venue firmly believing that loud guitars will always do it for me. Do I believe in the power of rock n' roll ? You bet :)
