Great news for people that can't spell.

Firefox now comes with an online spel checkr

Anythng yu spl rong gts a rd line under it, as you trype it.

One more reason to make the change!

I like it because I am a horrible typist. Firefox is more stable than IE. IE 7 is an unstable buggy piece of crap.

OLD MEME

seems to be quite a few of us moving over to firefox these days (funny, it underlines firefox as a misspell! - must be the capital letter )

I started using it about 2 weeks ago - mainly thanks to Cambo's upping of it & dissing of IE - anyway, its OK, no real noticeable difference so far - except that its not set up for downloading music (from HMVdigital et al) - but i'v never used IE for that either

I use IE,and never had any probs with it,

if its not broke,dont fix it

when it breaks,it'll go out the fookin window

Just try it. You won't go back to IE. You may have to get a few plugins to play youtubes etc, but that really isn't much of an issue.

IE IS broken foolish one.

It does everything wrong, MS have been threatened with court by the world wide web consortium on numerous occasions over it's brokenness (or rather their attempts to say that their broken crap was right and the people who actually created the standards it ignores, are wrong).

But Since you have obviously tried Firefox and Opera (THE least broken and fastest browser, bar none, and that's official), and still prefer IE, please continue to emjoy it, free software folks don't try to dictate what you use.

As I remember all I had to do with IE all that time way back then was to get that video player (fooked if I remember what it is called) that appears on the youtube site.

From my not so reliable memory, with Firefox it was a plugin and a new youtube player. It is far more stable in playing tubes.

All I'm saying is that Firefox may take a little time to set up, so it does all the things you want it to do, but that it is deffo worth the effort to do so.

To be honest,I couldnt give a monkeys what the difference between the two is,I only use the pc to come on here,and a couple of other sites and d/l music.So whether its IE,firefox or whatever,it really doesnt make any difference to me So stick that in yer pipe n smoke it

That's perfectly OK, it was just the proxymity of "IE" and "aint broke" that set something off.

Ron, for either browser to play tubes, you need Macromedia flash, and probably Java. I know this because Opera in Linux needed hand fed them for various reasons. I rave about Opera purely cos of it's speed (since firefox and IE have now stolen it's MDI (that's tabbed browsing to the great unwashed)), and because it's makers have actually made a concerted effort to make it totally correct in it's W3C compliance. As I have often said, if a page fails in IE, it's anybody's guess where the error lies, if it fails in Opera, you can guarantee the page is wrong, and a quick trip to the W3C validation engine page verifies that.

I do use Firefox a lot though, in either OS.

Why bother? I would switch it any time I write in english then in french, it would be hell on earth ;)

Now if you'd all just download knoppix for a quick risk-free look-see, we'd get you all nicely on your way to full and final defenestration.

As IE7 installation process froze up part way through for the third attempt running, I decided 'bugger it' and installed firefox.

Seems to work OK. And at least it installed, which is more than I can say for IE7.

(I realise its by a long way not the only program to do this, but it irritated me when the spell checker installation offered 'english' or 'english (british)'. This sneaky yank theft of our language is getting on my nerves! The choice should of course be 'engish (american) or 'english' :) )
