Before any of us was born. Well, maybe not Tim. Just.

Has just been pointed out to me on another forum that this is THE best night of the year to go on the sauce cos town will be full of 18 year old girlies celebrating their exam results.

If you can't get laid tonight, you're gay!

Then again, how the fcuk do you chat up an 18 year old? I've watched BB8 - those twins would do my head in after 2.7 seconds.

You don't chat 'em up, you just pour alcohol down them and then steam in! :viking:

Well done !

I got a B in History AS (evening class), funny how the 2 modules I thought I had fucked, I got good marks in and the one I thought I would do well in, I ballsed up,

The 1 I didnt do so well in was source based though and they mark you down for not using the sources enough (the others being purely knowledge) and that's always going to hinder an opinionated cnut like me :)

He presented that shiw a couple of times, you know the one where neurotic kids phoned in cos they only got 4 A's and a B.

"what next" or something, it was called. Think there may have been an A level one and an O Level (like GCSE's except that knowing where the exam hall was did not merit a passing grade) one.

Anyone else ever catch? Late 80's I'm thinking.

So,the UK now has the brightest and the most violent kids in Europe.....Oh and not forgetting the highest pregnancy rate in the entire western world.......Ooooh i'm welling up with pride. Can you get an A-level in sex education?

In Stoke you can do a GCSE in teenage maternity, including field trips to Mothercare.

BTW, as I inherit these high-flying A-level studes after they've left Sixth-Form I can assure anyone in any doubt that A-levels are, if not 'easier', at least graded an awful lot more generously than, say, 15 years ago.

Not to belittle the achievements of the young folk, natch.....

Oh, and it's highest teen pregnancy rate in EUROPE: the US of A beats the UK hands down (though North Staffs is attempting to catch up. Those twins on Big Brother? They've had three kids. Each. And that's not counting the ones that washed up on the muddy banks of the Trent.....)

I did a GCSE in German a couple of years ago and my take on it was that anyone who couldn't get a C probably didnt have the paper open, having said that, the very last pages tended to be a lot harder than the rest of it, I guess to seperate the A*s from the As. Definately much easier to get a B or C than when I left school in 1993

 I suddenly feel very dumb! I left school with 1 GCSE (C in Geography) in 2001....did resits at college and scraped 3 C's (including maths though!) and a B! I found them so difficult.

Then I could only manage 2 A Levels in Drama & Theatre Studies (E) and English Language (C). I found them so hard I nearly cried!

I still got into uni though!

Yeah i wasn't exactly proud of what i got first time round, in fact i was pretty ashamed, but not everyone has found their limits by the age of 16. Anyway an A-level in English then subsequent entry to uni hardly marks you out for the dunces cap

I remember that vividly - in fact I was thinking about it yesterday! It was the late 80's. I remember the A-level ones where Tony (and the student advisors and the bloke from UCAS) gave the kids advice about their grades (or in some cases, lack of grades!)

People talk utter bollocks about the A Level pass rates - when we did them back in the day they were all about knowing certain facts and repeating these ad nauseam throughout the exam. At least now they test different skills - the only issue is that students can repeat the tests up to 3 times.

A* grade for 90% - thats just plain wrong. An A grade for even less.

Much more pleasure helping pondlife get a D or C:scratch:

Likewise, got a U for Economics, and an N for Maths... Erm...

Retook them the next year, got a U for Economics (probably not the best subject to take, then!), and a D for Maths...

Got me into Poly (in Leicester), on an HND Course, did the 2 years for that, ended up with the highest grades and automatically (without having to apply) went straight to the 3rd year of the Degree course...

Ended up with a Desmond! :thumb: :smoking:

Well, I got a Desmond (Tutu) - 2:2 (2nd class honours degree) back in 1994, so I guess so! :)

In effect, even if you don't get the grades first time round, try going down a different avenue, and you'll eventually get somewhere! :)
