Hi all, I’m an author with my first novel out next year and I want to use a lyric from New Order at the start. Does anyone know how I could obtain permission? Who owns the copyright on New Order lyrics? Does anyone know who manages Bernard? Thanks Mark P

Barney's managed by Prime Management but should imagine it's f'all to do with them - Warners maybe?

Is your publisher letting you do it? Cos it can turn into a minefield. Most of the big labels just give permission for a one-off fee but some try to be clever and expect percentages and stuff ... just for a line used as a lyric!

You're best off using quotes which are well out of copyright now ... or are accredited to dead people!

Out of interest, what's the novel?!

And what's the line you're intending to use?!
