What are your favourite songs where the keyboards are dominating the song. I love the synth pop genre very much so the choices are almost infinite. I am pretty keen on:
(1) Perfect Kiss (I would be a heretic not to say this) (2) Maid of Orleans - OMD (3) Your Silent Face (4) Just cant get enough - Depeche :o (5) Its a sin - PSB's (6) Midnight - Orbital (7) TEE - Kraftwerk (8) Closedown - The Cure (9) Enola Gay - OMD (10)Love Action - Human League

As far as I know, it's like a synthesizer, but American. They may claim they invented it, but Dr Moog was a dirty immigrant, and he was only developing work (the Theremin) done by the KGB's chief gadgeteer.

I Feel Love, naturally. As far as I know, there's only one syndrum sound in there, the other percussive sounds come from Moroder triggering the Moog.

The synclavier's onboard computers are so powerful that they come under the same US export restrictions as the highest grade Military tech, the CIA have to check your ass out before you buy one. NASA used to borrow it (as recently as the late 1990's) to debug spacecraft as it was simply the only portable computer on Earth capable of digesting the Shuttle's (or some satellite) massive realtime telemetric output. It is also reckoned that it could easily handle running the strategic missle systems of a medium sized country.
To this day, you hear them all the time on TV and in films. Any time you hear an orchestra when none is credited, it the old Synclavier proving it's still the best.

I am aware that people still use both the Synclavier and Fairlight.

Pure bubblegum pop, but very catchy and very musically complex...not sure there is anything organic on it (vocals included!)

Dissapointed, TT, Haze, Make it Happen by Electronic are also on that list.
God, so many Depeche Mode songs, and every Kraftwerk song. Some Orb.
"Its a Sin", "It's Alright", "West End Girls", "Heart", "Minimal", all by PSB are among the greatest.
There are a few Simple Minds tracks, notably some of the older tracks from Sparkle in the Rain and New Gold Dream.
"Hypnotic Tango" by My Mine. "Love Can't Turn Around" by Farley "Jackmaster Funk" and Jesse Saunders. "Papua New Guinea" by Future Sound of London
Of course Human League's "Mirror Man", "Lebabon", etc. Fischerspooner's "Emerge". "Let Me Go" and "Temptation" by Heaven 17. "To Look At You" and "Don't Change" by INXS. Very haunting synth lines.
God, there's so many to choose from.
My favorite synth song(s) of all-time would be a tie between TPK, BLT, True Faith, and Blue Monday, though. No doubt about that.

The fairlight was brilliant in the Propaganda album track The Murder Of Love. I used Trevor Horn's bassline on the Frankie's cover of War for my first reinterpretation of New Gold Dream in 2004.
