so what festivals are people going to this summer?
i'm going to leeds festival in august - should be good as it's like 99% on that metallica and rage against the machine are two of the headliners 
(cue inevitable replies of "they're shit" etc etc etc 
)
the other headliner is supposed to be the killers so i hope something good is on in one of the tents at the same time 
really wish i could go to pinkpop festival in holland but it's taking place during my exams 
looks like GLASTONBUDGET in leicestershire will be all can afford this year.

I'm registered for Glastonbury, hope I can get a ticket ( I ain't missed one from 1987 ). Trouble is I am in GOA when they go on sale. Good job the hotel has the internet

Miami Ultra Music Festival (in a fortnight, yass!!)Rock Ness (Cribs and Editors back to back...double yasss!), The Wicker Man, Groove Armada's Lovebox, Belladrum, Bazaar (Porto), Indian Summer, Bestival and a few more TBC.
Anybody in Glasgow on the Fair Weekend should check out Indian Summer. 3000 capacity, only two stages and a Heineken Bar area with big picnic tables, parasols and...table service!!!! Line up not announced yet, last year featured Flaming Lips, Maps, Wilco and I'm From Barcelona so summat a wee bit different.

I probably will watch more tahn Editors. I usually settlw down in the new bands tent for the afternoon.
The V line up isnt great, but it does have its advantages....

Nah, but friends have. All say its excellent. Very much in the old festival vibe kind a thingy.
Thing that appeals to me is that you camp on site, take your own refreshments, ahem, have fires, kid friendly...thats if I can persude mrs alf to come along with the little alfs......and all that malarky.......
Bad side, hookys djing......... 
I think Solfest is run on similar lines.......non-profit making......trying to establish an original festi vibe....oh and Supergrass are headling saturday.....
I'm sure I'll do Austin City Limits...
I swore I wouldn't do it again after last year...just like I did the year before...

Am I the only one here who genuinely fcuking hates festivals?!
They're a good excuse to get away from your parents when you're in VIth Form College, smoking loads of blow and drinking Red Stripe, thinking you're dead cool.
But beyond that they're just shit, aren't they?! Surely?
I don't mind the odd outdoor gig - if the weather's nice and sunny - but fcuk sleeping in a tent and all that nonsense. Leave that shite to the kids who don't know any better yet.
Festivals should all be like that one we did in Athens a couple of years back: lunch spent by the beach in 30 degree heat, England game on telly in the afternoon, free VIP bar for the support slots, then pile down the front for New Order. Bit of a boogie to Miss Kitten afters surrounded by proper fit (not crusty) birds then back into town for a late-night snifter and a clean and comfy bed. Job's a good 'un.
Aside from Summercase (which I haven't booked yet, lazy bastard) I'm pretty keen on doing Rock Ness again; Editors, Underworld, Simian Mobile Disco etc all look very tempting plus any excuse to get out of the sweltering London June heat for a bit.
I fucking hate camping but I'll try and make a proper effort this year. After last year's toliets at Rock Ness I think scaling the fence and disappearing into the forest bog roll in hand is preferable.
Either that or a five star hotel in Inverness - if such a thing exists there.

I hate them too, with a passion. Can't think of many redeeming features. Even if it's a great line-up your gonna be watching it in a muddy field, from miles away and with shit sound. I have slept in a tent once in my life, when I was 14, and I will NEVER do it again. I'm doing these ones in a working capacity. In and out, no fucking about.
Primavera was very civilised I thought, and I loved that amphitheatre where Mercury Rev played. Knowing I was only a 15 minute cab ride from my apartment made it more bearable also.
Definitely Rock Ness as it falls on my birthday. 98% positive I'm doing Summercase. Possibly doing Wickerman, my friend went last year and said it was fantastic.

Is that the Bohemian Festival thingy in some park there every first weekend in June? We ended up at that i think a couple of times 2004- 2005.
